Hoping the restaurant opens soon!!! I miss this place! Good food & service!!
Whenever passing through Barrie, my friend & I quite often lunched at this restaurant. However, as you read other people's reviews of Market Buffet, they agree - to go from $11.99, to $14.99, was quite a jump. Unfortunately, we haven't been back since it went up. This price doesn't include a drink either, whereas other places, it's included. We go elsewhere now. Sorry, but with tax, it's now over $30.00 for 2 of us for lunch. We won't be back.
The Market Buffet is located at Veterans Drive and Mapleview Drive, southeast corner in the plaza. The staff is very helpful and assertive. The Market has a wide variety of fresh food for the hungry man or woman. All you can is the simple way of putting it. Chicken, steaks, ribs, pot roast, or seafood.
Been there once...I can't wait to go back....I ate so much.. luckily I wasn't sick...I logged out in their amazing crispy chicken..the meat loaf..roast potatoes ...then couldn't resist fruit salad..ice cream..and brownies..if you go there prepare to eat good food and bust!!!!
We were given a menu with limited items to choose from because the buffet is closed due to COVID-19. The staff are fabulous and friendly. There was only one other couple in the restaurant when we were there and we had to wait longer than expected as they made it from scratch. I got the chicken and salad which was good but not great. My mom got the meatloaf which didn't have much flavor but was satisfactory. Total bill around $60 with no alcohol. Trying to support local businesses and I hope this place survives covid to be a great buffet again!
The Market has changed from a buffet to more traditional table service. You can order single meals or get entrees and sides then share family style. The service and food is good.
We were so excited to try the food from here but were extremely disappointed. We ordered several different items, some of which was uneatable. . Will not be ordering from here in the future. We ordered through skip the dishes and did not dine in the restaurant.
We finally decided to check this place out. We’ve lived in Barrie for almost 2 yrs now and after passing it on Mapleview on the daily, why not give it a taste. The portions are very generous and the flavours are good, but overly buttered for some items.I found the ribs a little too salty, pork is natural salty and if overcooked it turns out even saltier. I wish I checked it out before covid because it had various stations, 1 for ribs, for side and for desserts and all looked so inviting, but not. They were closed :(The sad thing is that I hope it survives so we can try it buffet style and perhaps give a better rating. The ribs didn’t seem that freshly cooked but I understand because there was hardly anyone in there.
Always a great place to eat good food and great service
Loved the 1/ 2 rack dry ribs and 1/4 smoked chicken meal ( basically a leg)!!! Finally, a place that gives You decent sized sides - not a measly 1/4 cup of slaw. Enjoyed the fresh coleslaw without the ubiquitous mayonnaise. The potato salad was also fresh - with just a little too much mayo for my taste. With the addition of 3 extra ribs, I got two yummy meals out of my order. Don't know if I missed the template for ordering a sauce for the spareribs - they were fine without it. Delivery was very quick and the meats arrived hot.

The service was nice, the place was clean and well set up. Hard to judge the ambience during COVID tho. The food was not worth the price. The ribs were terrible, the salad was at par with poor presentation. The onion rings weren’t bad however, the onion could have more of a crunch to it but it did stay in the ring batter. The pulled pork tacos were quite good. What broke the camel’s back for me was the 6.99 Motts Clamato that was just handed to me in the bottle with a glass on the side. If I’m paying 7 bucks for a Motts, I would expect it to be served with some garnish.I would go back but I wouldn’t be too excited about it. 4 stars because maybe just my ribs were not their go-to item and with the right ambience it would be a nice place.
The should say buffet not open on the web site also slow service asked for a ceaser did not tell me it was in a bottle and not made. garbage service im from out of town my meal can with a plastic fork and knife i asked for salt and pepper and was told thete is little packs with the plastic knife and fork its like eating at a chip stand iwill not come here again no buffet like its supposed to be and bad service
Used to love it. Not a buffet anymore so I won't be back. Why pay per item when before you could pay 40$ and eat as much as you want? Not worth it anymore.
No Buffet due to COVID. Which was unfortunate. But it has a great atmosphere and decor. Food was very tasty and friendly staff.
My ribs were so dry that I thought I was eating jerky. Food had clearly been sitting around a LONG time. There was bones all throughout my pulled pork and it was just as dry. Like eating burnt plastic. The best part was the beans on the side, what a waste of $70.
