I'd like to start by saying I have been to McReilly's often, and every time the food has been outstanding. Tyson, the bartender, has always been attentive and upbeat. Last night, though, was one of the worst experiences I had eating out. The place felt cold and depressing.
I attended with my girlfriend for dinner, and when we chose a table, I had to get the server to wipe down a very sticky table. We were asked right away if we wanted to place our order, but I hadn't even opened the menu yet, let alone sat down. After that, we were pretty much forgotten about. The whole bar/pub is served by the bartender, where it seems they are more interested in pouring drinks and chatting with the drunks. We even had another table near us speaking up to get some service as they had been sitting unattended, since they arrived, for about 15 minutes.
My girlfriend ordered fries with a grilled cheese, and I ordered the Tex-Mex fries. My girlfriend noticed that the cheese in the grilled cheese was not melted and still had solid cheese chunks, so she ate her fries while waiting for our server to come back to mention it to her. They only came back when we were pretty much done and were clearing the plates. It was mentioned about the grilled cheese, where they offered to take it to the kitchen and fix it. They came back saying it was made fresh. Unfortunately, all that was done to fix it was to microwave it. It came back limp with a plate of the liquid cheese that had oozed out of the sandwich. It was no longer edible, so we just left it.
As for my meal, the fries were hot as they should be, but the salsa and sour cream on top were freezing cold. Enough so that I could feel the cold on my teeth when I was eating it. To top it off, the bottom of my plate was a lake of tomato water. I take it the salsa was frozen and then defrosted to put on top of the fries, but the liquid drained to the bottom of the plate and made at least half of my fries soggy. I only ate about half of my order that wasn’t soggy.
We waited for about 15 minutes to pay our bill, so I eventually decided to just go to the bar and stand by the cash register to get her attention to pay. As I said, I have eaten here in the past and the food has been excellent, but last night, being totally forgotten about and the food being a 1 out of 10 was a bit of a shock.

One of my favourite pubs in Barrie, and especially when I was in college. Went there after I graduated and glad to see it atill going strong years later.

I can't even rate the food after waiting 25 minutes for an order of wings. The worst service ever. After waiting 30 minutes, a basic order of wings was wrong. I don't recommend it at all.

Really cool spot ! Very reasonable prices ! Service from Tyson was amazing ! My bestie and I were the only ones outside on the patio but he made every effort to ensure he was tending to us . A very chill vibe in the middle of busy- ness ! A true Irish pub vibe ! Thank you Tyson for not only your service but authenticity!

Wow… huge, fresh, and delicious pasta with mini garlic bread for just $20!
Great patio and excellent customer service.
I don’t think I’ve seen anything like this in Toronto.

Hailey? Hayley? I forgot to ask for the spelling but the service, the recommendation and the vibe was lovely. It was my first time at a bar and she made my birthday feel special. Also, awesome playlist.

Bit pricey for what you get, inexperienced bartenders, for an Irish pub anyway ( can't even pour a black and tan properly) worst of all though short pints

The perfect start to the day and night cap. Bailey snagged me and my friends and we have changed from another bar. We have never needed or tried to go anywhere else. Have to come in with jokes each week to keep up! Thanks again for our meeting spot.

Amazing staff, great deals on food and beverages and overall one of the best pubs downtown Barrie!
My first time here was a Tuesday night and we all had a great time. AMAZING playlist, delicious food, chill atmosphere, the bartender was super cool, plus 2.50 PBR’s
The pub was very fun. I had a burger and my kids had chicken fingers. The food was a little spicy but only 1 of my kids panicked! The washroom was nice wasn't creepy. The service was amazing my 1 kid was super hungry and the same time the drinks came His fries came so overall it was nice!
Tyson is the best bartender in barrie. The food from the kitchen is all homemade and fresh, the prices are amazing for the value you’re getting. was here 15 years ago and I’m glad I came back. Marco
