I generally never leave reviews, but this place definitely deserves a 5 star from me. What simply was a “let’s just grab some breakfast” with my friend while we were waiting for other friends to arrive in Barrie, turned into quite possibly the best diner/classic breakfast experiences I’ve ever had. It was just one guy (I believe it may have been the owner?) and it’s a long weekend, so he was the only one working the restaurant. Despite him being the only one, he was very honest, respectful and gave amazing service. I had told him I definitely want to come back as it’s such an amazing place with absolutely amazing food and service. Thank you for this experience! It’s a shame that this gem will be demolished in the new year. I definitely have to visit this place again, so worth it!!

It was our first time visiting Barrie as a family from Korea, and we stopped by for brunch.

We were truly impressed by the chef’s passion and calm presence in the kitchen. The Eggs Benedict, pancakes, and sandwich were all absolutely delicious — even our kids loved everything!

Thank you for giving us such a warm and memorable experience in Barrie. We’ll always remember it fondly.

Never been here before called to ask opinions on breakfast and the gentlemen was very rushed and not helpful and very quick to hang up

wow nice response owner:

I asked on 2 breakfast items to see which ones more popular at your restaurant as I never been to your restaurant , your response is just unbelievable:

No wonder why you guys are closing up

Alot of restaurants do in fact give out great recommendations and will make time for paying customers

WOW. It was a tradition with my dad, best friend and I to try all the breakfast places in Barrie. We’d go to a new one every Saturday morning before hockey. After going to so so many we always come back to midway! Best eggs benny I’ve ever had and really quick service from great people!

Food was incredible and affordable. It and a great old timey vibe. The service was Amazing. A running business since 1962, it's a shame the city of Barrie is going to demolish it.

Small-town diners are more than just places to grab a bite or sip a coffee—they're the true heartbeat of a community.

They’re where the waitress knows your name, your kids' latest milestones, your grandmother’s upcoming wedding, and who’s been under the weather lately. It’s personal, warm, and real.

Where else in the world can you find that kind of service—not just attentive, but human?

When the town begins bulldozing places like this, it’s not just about tearing down a building. It’s about erasing a hub of connection, a web of shared stories and memories. And once it’s gone, those everyday rituals—of laughter, comfort food, and belonging—fade with it.

For out-of-town guests, where will they go to experience the soul of the community? Certainly not McDonald's.

We both had “The Hangover” which is a grilled cheese with bacon, poached eggs and hollandaise sauce.
We’ve never seen that on a menu before and we were intrigued. It was absolutely delicious.

Friendly service (I believe it was the owner) and great prices.

Owner chased my wife because she changed our sons diaper and put it in the bathroom garbage, literally brought the diaper outside and my wife it with her

This will be our new breakfast spot. Popped in this morning and they were busy but we were eating within 20 minutes. Best eggs Benedict I’ve ever had and my wife raved about her omelette. The place has a cool retro vibe and the owner who does all the cooking took time to chat with us. We will be back soon.
