Food was just ok - my tacos were very sloppy and not very good tasting. Service was absolutely terrible. Lots of staff but never checked on or could order more drinks. Our waitress disappeared. Had to ask for the check 3 times. We asked bartender to put on the Jays game and he gave us the remote and seemed to not care, said "watch what you like".

Probably the worst meal I've had in years. We ordered the brisket sandwich, and the smoked goat cheese bruschetta. Our waitress was pretty good so my review does not reflect the level of service. The sandwich was quite literally just fat on a bun. The smoked goat cheese bruschetta was not smoked, and just cheese, halved tomatoes (some were kind of rotten which is surprising given the season!l) and balsamic vinegar. We complained about our meal and received a 3 dollar discount which we found unsatisfactory. Complaints to the manager (in his words "the closest thing we have to a manager " were met with being told to "call the owners for your free food, you losers". Lol. I have never ever left a bad review for a restaurant (see my Google review history!) But the horrible management at this restaurant and the disgusting food will have us calling both the owners and the health unit. They were also serving a clearly intoxicated woman, who was singing loudly about how drunk she was. Very disruptive as she was at the table next to us and had her feet kicked up which was pretty gross.

Honestly the patio looks cool but the inside of the restaurant does NOT feel like a country restaurant at all. Other than the music, nothing inside makes me feel like I'm at a country theme restaurant. Felt more like an Indian restaurant like example with gold trimmings behind the bar. It was all just too modern.
The brisket sandwich was good, the bar drinks were only ok, and while the waitress was really very nice she lacked some etiquette. Although I know how hard it is to serve / find good service nowadays so I really won't knock her for it.
Probably next time I'd order take out.

Bartender decided to serve two people clearly intoxicated or on drugs. Created a scene, another customer decided to take matters into his own hands and toss one of them, No police were called, staff had no idea what to do, manger did a horrible job handling the situation as well. Bartenders have 3 major duties, don't sell to the underaged, KNOW WHEN TO CUT SOMEONE OFF, Don't allow anyone to drink and drive. This establishment clearly failed with one of the easiest laws to control...
The food is excellent, I had the cauliflower bites they were amazing. The staff are very friendly and the atmosphere is great. I would highly recommend checking out north country bar.

The incident that was taking place today was unexpected but handled in the best way possible. A very drunk guest came in and caused a scene by not paying the bill. Then, while being told to pay the bill started an altercation which then resulted in the drunk guest being removed from the premise. Thank god for one of the patrons who was there to help de-escalate the situation and help keep the staff, manager, and other guests safe.

An assault took place on the premises after staff served some patrons that were clearly drunk. Instead of doing diligence and calling first responders they let one of the patrons tossed the other out and tried to play it off like nothing happened. Also took the server 30 mins to an hour to get out bill so we could leave. Absolutely the worst, downtown Barrie is getting terrible but restaurants need to step and call the right ppl instead of trying to negate liability.

I had a fantastic dining experience at North Country Restaurant! Everything was great, from the warm ambiance to the delicious food. Our server, Devi, was exceptionally friendly and made excellent recommendations. I opted for the brisket dinner with fries and au jus, and it was truly delicious. The brisket was tender and flavorful, and the fries were perfectly crispy. I will definitely be recommending this place to others!

Absolutely awful experience eating dinner last night. We went early for a show, waited half an hour to get served, the server didn’t bring half of what I asked & never came by for the bill ever. We ended up ASKING to settle up at the bar 2 hours later because our server was clueless. During the show it was insanely chaotic; the bartenders had NO idea what they were doing & ended up charging me $12 twice for the same beer; the only reason I paid was because the bartender wouldn’t take no for an answer. The change from the first beer was still on the bar, that he literally just put down. I’m very convinced they were giving away free beers & putting the tab on whoever could be manipulated into paying it; my buddy ended up having to pay over a $100 tab when he swore he only had 3 beers.
This restaurant is the truly most disorganized place I’ve ever stepped foot into. I honestly can’t tell you who’s worse: the management, the bartenders or the servers. Never stepping foot back in here again & I would never recommend this place to anyone. I won’t be susprised to see this place go down in a year or two.
