The tea shop inside the The British Shop, was an amazing experience. Came here for an after valentines day date with my husband. The food was phenomenal and very beautifully plated. The prices were perfect for the quality of the meal and the excellent service. For two of us with a tip, it was about $63. That was for a full meal, a whole pot of tea and dessert. Very comforting place for a nice chat and very relaxing vibe.
The british shop had a variety of imported goodies as well as fashion choices. Bought myself a pair of warm mittens and a very soft fashion scarf. Will be going back to both the shop and the tea room very soon.
Stepping into The British Shop in Alliston feels like a little trip to the UK. The classic British charm is evident in both the cozy atmosphere and the selection of imported goods. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with warm hospitality and a delightful array of British treats.
One of the highlights is their cream tea, served with freshly baked scones that are light, buttery, and just the right amount of crumbly. Paired with clotted cream and jam, they are absolutely delicious. The tea is brewed perfectly, offering a comforting and authentic experience.
Beyond the cream tea, the shop itself is a treasure trove of British favorites, from biscuits and chocolates to savory snacks and unique gifts. It’s a great place to find classic UK brands that can be hard to come by elsewhere.
Whether you’re a Brit craving a taste of home or just someone who appreciates good food and a welcoming atmosphere, The British Shop is definitely worth a visit. Highly recommended!
Fun products but the real gem is the Cafe, where you can have quintessential British foods like high tea and Welsh Rarebit and tiny sandwiches. Their tea is amazing and the service is great. Would definitely recommend for a small party or a casual lunch.
Right before Christmas my husband purchased a number of stocking stuffer items in the British shop. On Christmas Day when stockings were opened we found a number of items that had long past their sell by date. When I returned to the shop on December 27th to return/exchange the items the reaction from the staff was not what I’d expected. I had no receipt and she indicated that she could not return the items without a receipt. Fair enough I suppose but they are the only place in town that sells these items and let’s face it, nobody saves bills for chocolate bars, etc. She indicated she would give me replacement items, and she did. After a lot of discussion on the issue, because she did not remove the additional items on the shelves that were also past their sell by date, she told me the manufacturer’s only put that date on their packaging to sell more products. Well that’s absolutely not true and if you’ve ever seen a chocolate bar that’s 6 months past its sell by date you’ll know what I mean. Needless to say I wasn’t impressed with the customer service and won’t be shopping there again. Just a PSA to check the expiry date on products you are buying in their shop.
Sorry to anyone looking for Lucozade. I keep buying it all.
Delicious high tea. Very fun experience at this cute little tea room. The tea is also delicious. I would highly recommend. Great option for something more unique.
It’s hit and miss on the staff being friendly. Their pastries are good. The prices in the store are too high in my opinion.
Overall it’s an ok store to pop in for pastries and such, just wish the staff were more consistent with their customer service.
Great store full of English goodies
First time at this little gem in Alliston!
Wonderful British shop in the front and cosy quaint tea house (lunch spot) in the rear.
My wife had the quiche and my son and I had the ploughman’s lunch.
Both fresh and delicious.
Loose leaf tea steeped in a pot too, which does make a big taste difference.
Not inexpensive, but a great example of ‘you get what you pay for’.
Service was excellent as well.
We’ll be back for sure!
Decent sized shop with chocolates, parties, snacks and groceries as well as other British products. They have a tea room in the back, would like to try that at some point.

My daughter and I enjoyed a delicious High Tea this past weekend. The lady serving us was courteous, friendly and accommodating.I suggest providing name badges for your staff to add a personal touch. It is always pleasant to be able to address others by their own name, especially when expressing thanks for their attentive service.
Cute little tea room in the back of the shop. Very tasty sandwiches and scones. Lovely tea and decor. Fun experience.
Loved it.Excellent service.
