The Keg Steakhouse + Bar - Barrie

Having registered for a Thanksgiving dinner a week ago we were looking forward to enjoying a professional turkey dinner but we were advised that they had sold over an hour before we arrived. We had booked for 6:45 and arrived at 6:20 but what we expected was not too happen. Very disappointed. Do not understand how poorly they were so unprepared especially when we had pre-booked a week before. Also we received a text on Friday to confirm our attendance.

Booked a week ago for their Thanksgiving “Dinner”. As I know dinner is usually served between 530pm and 8 pm.We booked for 430 pm as we had a senior with us who was looking forward to this turkey dinner, early Ned gets the worm right? NOPE!
Sat us at our table gave us water THEN told as they had sold out of Turkey dinner. Time was 445 pm. I inquired to our waiter as to why, even before the dinner hour they had sold out. The waiter informed us they opened at 11am and started serving turkey dinner. Wait, WHAT?? ISN'T THAT CALLED LUNCH????
And why not prepare for a busy day? Very disappointed!

You think you are getting a deal or even a turkey dinner and ya end up paying full price for a mediocre steak dinner.No warning no email if you booked online, not even as you are waiting to be seated did they mention they sold out.

For clarity this is Googles definition of dinner.

“Dinner is typically served between 5:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., but this can vary based on individual schedules, cultural norms, and the establishment. Some restaurants may start serving dinner as early as 5:00 p.m. or 5:30 p.m., while some people prefer to eat later, between 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. or even later. “

We as consumers deserve better, as Canadians, we deserve better. Major fail Keg.

Spent an evening enjoying an excellent meal. We were served by Nestani. She is absolutely wonderful. Professional, attentive, caring and always made us feel prioritized and important. She provides 10/10 service. Highly recommend requesting her for your next visit. Thank you Nestani!!!!!

Came here to celebrate my mom and nephew’s birthday. Our servers Steph and Sarah were amazing, very attentive and patient with our family. Food was amazing, fresh and steaks were cooked perfectly. Also wanted to mention Todd is a professional that cares about the guests and establishment. Overall very impressed with this location and the people in it.

I recently dined at The Keg, and while the experience wasn’t terrible, it didn’t quite live up to expectations either.

The ambiance was nice and the restaurant was clean and well-maintained, which set a good tone at first. The staff was friendly, but service felt a bit inconsistent—there were long gaps between visits to the table, and it took a while to get our drinks and food.

As for the meal itself, it was decent but nothing particularly memorable. The steak was cooked close to how I asked, but lacked seasoning, and the sides were just okay. For the price point, I was hoping for something a bit more refined or flavorful.

Went for birthday dinner. Our waitress was fantabulous. Other staff also checked on the table filling our wine glasses and taking a photo for us. We were sat right next to the kitchen which was a bit loud with people coming and going. I would maybe ask for something more quiet. However I don’t think we would have had the attn we had if we were not in that spot. So maybe it was perfect?

The food as always for Keg was as expected. The wine we usually get is from California and our waitress suggested a comparable one which we loved.

I think this was our fave Keg experience and would highly recommend. Very clean. And the staff were so friendly and accommodating.

The only reason I chose a 4* for my review when we had such a great experience is…

If I could have one voice of recommendation. The young lady who greeted us when we arrived looked right past my partner in front of me who was in a wheelchair, and she obviously looked upward to me and only spoke with me. My partner felt less than in that moment and we have discussed it a few times since. How strange it was and how it made her feel. Please train your front staff to greet everyone who comes in with eye contact, child, adult, person with disability.

We’ve been to the Keg many, many times over the years and the food and service have always been top notch, which is why we’ve always returned. But the last time we went the service was quite poor which was very surprising. We ended up being there for hours (not by choice!) and one of our foursome didn’t get the “surf” part of the surf and turf order. The staff rectified things quickly and didn’t charge us for the lobster tail, but I hope this isn’t a trend. We will be back to give it another try!

This was my first time at The Keg (my wife had been previously), and it did not disappoint! The food was excellent, the server (Sarah) was amazing, and we even got a complimentary slice of cake because my wife and I were celebrating six months of marriage, and a full year since we were engaged!

Bravo, Keg, you done did good!

My wife and I come to The Keg every month and we came to The Keg last night for dinner around 5:10 pm and without a doubt our waitress Hillary( with two Ls) haha was AMAZING!!!! Without a doubt the best service we have ever experienced!!! I let her know that whenever we come to The Keg from now on that we will request her ALWAYS!!! I can't express last night's service enough, phenomenal!!!

My best friend and I recently dined at The Keg to celebrate her birthday, and I felt compelled to share what was, without question, the best service I have ever received at this restaurant.

From the moment we were seated, our server, Nicole R, was simply phenomenal. She was incredibly personable, warm, and attentive, setting a fantastic mood for our celebratory evening. It’s rare to encounter service that feels so genuinely invested in ensuring a great time, but Nicole nailed it.

What truly stood out was Nicole's diligence and attention to my friend’s dairy allergy. Navigating allergies while dining out can often be stressful, but Nicole handled it with professional expertise and care. She proactively went through the menu, offered safe alternatives, and made sure every dish was prepared exactly as needed, allowing my friend to relax and enjoy her special meal without worry.

This level of detail, combined with her friendly demeanor, elevated our birthday celebration tremendously. Thank you, Nicole, for providing such an outstanding and safe dining experience. We will absolutely be asking for your section on our next visit!
