We wanted a standard table away from the stage but got put at a Hightower table right beside the stage where the band was playing. Service was okay, our server was very busy and kept forgetting about us. Food was not great for the price we paid other than the flatbread, which was great. Burger was dry, wings were definitely not jumbo and tasted off and our cheesecake was still half frozen and not worth $10.50. Needless to say, you're better off to go eat somewhere else and come for the games after.

Had a great time at The Rec Room tonight. We went bowling and everything ran really smoothly. Olivia helped us out and she was fantastic—super organized, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed without us even asking. Really solid customer service. Makes a big difference when someone is that good at their job. Will definitely come back.

⭐️ 2/5 — Disappointing Dining Experience Despite Great Staff and Arcade

I visited The Rec Room in Barrie, Ontario during a hockey tournament, as it was the restaurant selected for our team outing. While the staff were friendly and the arcade itself was genuinely fun, the dining experience was extremely disappointing, especially considering the price point.

To start, the value for money is shockingly poor. The kids’ meals are bundled with arcade passes, with the starting price at $50 for a single kids’ meal. For my family of four, the bill came to $250 with tip, and we still left hungry. I’m not a picky eater, but my meal, a tofu bowl advertised as “vegetables and tofu over jasmine rice”, contained mostly rice, three tiny pieces of tofu, and virtually no vegetables, all for $20. The kids’ meals were equally underwhelming; they barely ate, and I ended up buying them more food shortly after leaving.

The concept of pairing meals with arcade passes is fun in theory, but the execution feels like a cash grab. Charging $50 for a kids’ meal that includes options like hot dogs and fries is, frankly, unreasonable.

I genuinely appreciate the kind staff and the enjoyable arcade environment, but the quality, quantity, and value of the food were unacceptable. For $250, a family should not walk away still hungry. I’m tired of seeing restaurants inflate prices while cutting corners on food quality, and unfortunately, The Rec Room was a prime example of this trend.

I hope management takes this feedback seriously, because the experience had the potential to be great but the dining side desperately needs improvement.

They were closed when I showed up because a company bought them out for a Friday night.. 2 security guards accosted me when walking in like I was a trespassing, what a joke.. ruined my impression of this place completely. It was 8pm and nearly EMPTY inside. Whoever allowed this should be fired.

We drove 45 minutes from Collingwood only to arrive and find out the venue was closed to the public at 4pm for a private event. The website and phone menu both indicated they were open, and no one answered the phone when we tried to call ahead. This lack of communication was extremely disappointing and felt like a complete waste of time. If you’re planning to visit, be cautious—don’t rely on their posted hours

Extremely disappointed doesn't even begin to cover how I feel. I planned a night out with another couple, the website and the call menu indicated they were open until 1am. I called ahead over 7 times throughout the afternoon and early evening and no one answered the phone. I drove 45min with our friends for a date night - just to be turned away at the door because they had the place rented out for a private event. Learn to answer your phone's, this could have been easily avoided if someone and simply take 1 of my many calls. It is safe to say that I will not be coming back to this location anytime soon, which is unfortunate because other locations have been a great experience. I will make sure to warn other people I know about this horrible customer service. I was also treated with snarkyness at the door when we explained that we attempted to call before arriving - total let down.

Called 7 times ahead of arrival, nobody picked up. Travelled 45 minutes into Barrie to visit and was turned away at the door because apparently they were hosting a private event. No notice given, nobody answered the phones, and their website said they were open. Very disappointed.

Fun place to have a date night or hang with friends wasn't too busy.

Giving a 5 star review for 2 reasons. First off, the hostess ensured my kids and I had the best seats to watch the Bills game and then we were served by a gentleman named Dante. We ordered Nachos (as it was the special) and they were indeed quite special. Terrible presentation, zero cheese layering, and the addition of chicken was a train wreck. When Dante became aware of this he immediately offered a solution to another dish however we weren’t interested. Knowing we weren’t completely satisfied, he spoke to his manager and provided us with $20 in coupons for the kids to play the arcade games to make up for the experience. This was exceptional service and unexpected. I wasn’t looking for a refund or anything other than some feedback to the kitchen for the sub par standard. Despite this not being Dante’s fault, he turned a small problem into a solution to make us happy. Great job Dante and we will be back to eat again. I think this is also a reflection on the leadership team and the training. Well done! Second reason is for the 5 stars are the chicken wings. Absolutely outstanding. Great presentation and cooked perfectly. The kitchen squad definitely rocked that one. Knowing they have an all you can eat during the week is another incentive to return.

Arcade area is always fun,

Avoid the restaurant area! We were seated and forgotten about! Waited 20+min didn't even get a server. No one came and asked if we wanted drinks, nothing!!!! It wasn't even busy! We walked out 🤷‍♂️ Very disappointed...
