The Works Craft Burgers & Beer

Ordered take-out - very disappointed in the food honestly, I have never had a bad meal from the works before. The fries were very hard, the burger patty (beef) was incredibly dry. It all tasted like it was sitting around for hours before it was served. I ordered the magic mushroom and there maybe 5 mushroom slices in the burger and 2-3 cheese curds in each poutine. 👎🏻

Unacceptable behaviour from New owner
Just got to know about new owner or management is very unprofessional, threatening my family or friends who had really bad experience and did review on website. Owner has lot of time to find people on social media and contacting and threatening to their guest. Be careful local people and caution before visiting this WORKS location

No wonder why restaurant is empty with expensive burgers and same burgers selling on UBER 50% off

I had lunch at The Works Barrie location yesterday. I am a long time customer of The Works Gourmet Burger Bistro location in Barrie Ontario, Yesterday I had lunch at that location and the service was horrible! I have cerebral palsy in my left side. I have limited use of my left arm and hand. Due to me have dexterity issues I asked that my burger be cut in half. My server as horrible! He did not listen! had to ask him 3 times before he did it. I or The food was good but I have never received it. I ordered gravy and had to ask 2 times. This is unacceptable! I have been eating at this location for 10 years. Never before have I experienced such poor service and I am not one to complain. I do feel this experience should be noted by head office!

We went there Wednesday Sept.17 2025... Unfortunately things are going downhill for this place, Wednesday Dinnertime place was EMPTY, beer glasses were super dirty, so was the pitcher. We mentioned it & they brought out 2 different glasses not quite as dirty. Jeez, then he didn't want to accept the gift card I had until I paid the full amount first?? That's odd... The gf ordered a Tom Green chicken burger 🍔, had to run to the washroom immediately afterwards. We really liked this place before & been here about 25x, but unfortunately I don't think we'll be coming back...😬 The only thing redeeming of this place is the excellent patio in the back... I hope they can turn this place around.

The burgers are so excellent! 😃 Decent size, so much flavour, so many types & styles of burger to choose from, we keep choosing the cheese filled pattie option for a $2 upgrade & that vegetable creamy dip beach house sauce for the kettle chips & fries is out of this world!, decent beer 🍻 selection... Love the bogo coupon, otherwise I would consider it a little too expensive to come in more often. The servers were incredible, very accommodating, friendly. Looking forward to summer & when the street patio is open. 🙂👌. We will be back again.

Update: Every time we've been there, about 10x now, it has consistently been absolutely incredible every time. 😉

Sadly, this place appears to be nearly dead. Took my wife last night, and on a very nice Friday night - we were the only people in the restaurant. The food was decent, and our server was great - too bad she won't make enough money to survive in a place with no customers for her to serve.

What's best about it is the lake facing upper patio which is very quiet for conversation. Go early, they close ridiculously early, like nine o'clock. Food is mediocre. Nice craft beers.

I was going out downtown with a couple of buddies and wanted to grab something to eat and the business sign caught my attention and wanted to sit down and eat however it’s closed at 9, my personal opinion I think 10 or 11 pm would be amazing closing time(:

I really love this place. The burgers are awesome, and the staff are really friendly.

Only thing that surprised me—I was the only one on the patio at 6:30, it’s concerning when there’s no rush at rush hour, Not sure why more people aren’t showing up. Maybe cause there weren’t any specials or deals on the menu, and they close kind of early (9 PM) especially for a place that does burgers and beer.

As someone who works in marketing, it feels like they’re missing a chance to bring in more people. I hope more folks find this place—it’s one of my favorites in Barrie.

We saw the back patio from lakeshore and it looked like a great place to eat and take in a bit of a view. We walked in at 8:50 on a Friday night and were told they are closed. 8:50, Friday night, tables still active on the patio…

The seating options are great and our server was very friendly. Both the burgers and the milkshakes are unique and delicious. The flavours stand out positively and will surprise you with how well they go together.

We visited on Canada Day, and unfortunately, the restaurant seemed unprepared for the holiday crowd. There weren’t enough servers, and the one assigned to our section was clearly overwhelmed, some customers ended up leaving because of the long wait. When our food finally arrived, my burger came with two bottom buns, and my friend got two top buns, it was honestly ridiculous. The taste was just okay, but the patties were very overcooked.
