Had the trout it was good. Fish and chips are another popular choice it is also a great choice.

Last year, we visited the Black Dog for lunch for my dad’s 95th birthday . We chose this restaurant as we have enjoyed their fare and ambience in the past and wanted to share with our father. Our server asked if we were Celebrating anything special, to which we replied an 95th birthday!

The owner?manager? came over with an unordered local beer for my father, and we all thought how special! My dad was touched by this acknowledgment and the generous spirit ! I still remember the big smile on his face as he made eye contact with the owner?manager? , and lifted his glass in a cheers!

Our server then returned, to take our drink and food order.

Imagine, our surprise to see this beer on the final bill. Surely, a mistake. I proceeded to take the bill to the owner?manager? to which he responded, next time you bring your dad in you can have a free drink. My husband and I, both having worked in fine dining with over 20 years between us, found this response completely unacceptable. My father was hurt and insulted. My husband and I, embarrassed. In retrospect I wish I would have lied to my dad and said the owner?manager? did the right thing and adjusted the bill.

Why the late review? Because at 96 my dad still recalls how awful that experience was for all involved. As recently as yesterday. “Well I would have ordered a beer I liked if I knew we were going to pay for it. That guy just brought it over! “

The Burger was amazing, best burger I’ve had in a very long time! Fries were perfectly crispy. Wouldn’t recommend the beef dumplings on the summer menu though.

We have ate here a few times and the service a food quality is always top notch. They have the best escargot anywhere.

This is a highly rated restaurant in a tourist-trap town of Bayfield! The vibe and the menu looked decent, but the prices are wild especially for the portion size.

Chicken Sandwich was quiet small and the fried were very salty!

Poke Bowl was the tiniest I’ve ever seen and very mid.

The server was polite and checked-in appropriately!

She is a splendid ambassador for your business,

Was in town with some pals and had a fantastic experience at Black Dog. A very premium experience on all fronts at a great price. Great beer (including a Guinness poured the proper way), whiskey from around the world, and food that was way better than it needed to be. We stayed for much of the afternoon.

Tasty burger and excellent fries. Jamie, my server was very knowledgeable with the food and drink menu. If you're in the area it's worth going. You will not be disappointed.

Went for a March Break drive & lunch and was pleasantly surprised how busy it was in the off season on a cold day! Had the steak frites and the fish and chips and both were delicious and the portions were generous. Can't wait to go back in the summer and enjoy that great looking patio!
