I really wanted to like this place because the customer service was genuinely good, the lady was friendly and welcoming, but the food was disappointing.
The General Tao chicken (see attached pictures) was mostly dough with only a tiny piece of chicken inside, which is not what General Tao should be. I eat at many Chinese restaurants, and this was completely different from traditional General Tao. It was more like a dough ball with sauce rather than actual chicken. The BBQ wings also didn’t have any BBQ sauce and tasted like plain fried wings. The fried rice was okay, but it wasn’t enough to make up for the rest of the meal.
Overall, good service, but the food quality and preparation did not meet expectations.

I order lemon chicken got chicken ball which were gross no sauce. The sweet and sour was tasteless and clear not the usual red color. The chicken fried rice was not fried it was wet. We ordered general tao chicken and it was not what we expected it was chicken ball in the sauce. The spring rolls are suppose to vegetable but had a mystery meat in them. The web site allowed on line ordering and after place our order and putting in the credit card info it rejected so we called and they said you can only order in phone. We will never order from here again. The lady was nice but it didn’t make up for the bad food.

We were celebrating a birthday at the cottage with take out. It was all delicious and hot. Spring Roll was the best. Both steamed and vegetable fried rice were very good. Deep fried shrimp was delicious! Everyone enjoyed his or her meal. We will definitely return!

This had to be the worst Chinese Food I have ever eaten. We ordered tonight for my Dads 78th Birthday Dinner. I will say the beef dish my dad got was good, the rice was ok and the sweet and sour pork tasted ok and was really tender. Now for the bad. The egg rolls were very over cooked and the chicken was very hard almost rubbery and hard like those small super bouncy balls. We could barely get our forks in the chicken it was so hard. This was both the chicken balls and the small chicken pieces for the lemon chicken. Not edible at all! The lemon sauce was very watery and didn’t really taste like normal Chinese lemon sauce that most places serve. We usually order from the place in Cannington but wanted to give Golden Star another chance as we have ordered from here before and some times were good and others we had to complain….i didn’t complain today as we have in the past and they acted like they didn’t care. $83 spent on my dads dinner tonight and approximately $60 of the dinner was tossed in the garbage!!
We will never order from Golden Star again!

We ordered 3 dishes. Cantonese chowmien good and hot. However chicken balls overcooked could hardly chew the chicken. Shrimp fried rice stone cold. We had to wait for this order so no excuse for cold food. Rarely order at this restaurant as usually disappointed.
The staff was so nice but unfortunately our food was tasteless and not good. It was my son’s birthday we spent almost $200 on food and it was a complete waste. The food was beyond bland and just plain no good. We won’t be returning

Despite reading current bad reviews, I really wanted this place to have improved. The food is absolute garbage, service was meh and there is no atmosphere to remark on.Please. I implore you to drive elsewhere. Or just burn your money and have some KD if you really want to waste cash.Kung pow chicken was dry as all hell, like I could barely chew it. Vegetable beef almond had burnt pieces all throughout it and the almonds tasted so stale. I also found what I'm fairly certain is a seed from a tree… and not a bug wing. At least that’s what I’m telling myself.
