Every time I’ve eaten here it’s been very good. I had a special which was pickerel and everything on the plate was well thought out.

We were visiting from Toronto on our girls trip, and came to this restaurant yesterday as it has great reviews, the food was absolutely horrible, we ordered the salad, that was completely inedible And we returned to the kitchen immediately. However, when the bill came, they only reduced 25% and refused to take it off the bill. It’s not about us paying for the salad, it’s about the expectation of the fine dining experience that this restaurant Is positioning themselves to be- - No one came to talk to us, poor server had to apologize for the management. We were quite disappointed as it’s definitely not an experience you expect from a fine dining establishment Very disappointed with the lack of guest experience and expectation of the fine dining establishment. The only positive- Drinks and coffees were as per expectation.

Very disappointed at the manager, we were there May 24 for a 60th birthday. She was awful how she treated my wife with her dietary questions!
Bad experience from start to finish. No response to inquiries, no follow up, served me food that I am allergic to after being expressly told multiple times, offered no sort of apology. Manager was rude and unprofessional. Stay away if you have any food sensitivity or diet restrictions!
Booked a birthday dinner for 24 May. Went in in advance it to explain menu requirements for diners. Double checked the week before and my daughter phoned the week before. 4 guests were diabetic, 1 gluten free and 2 vegan. My daughter left 3 messages none of which were returned. The vegan meals arrived covered in cheese which were replaced after 20 minutes by which time the other guests were finished their meal. Spoke with the manager who advised they don’t comp meals. Could not explain why messages were not returned. No apology. I wanted to pay for 7 meals. 2 of the 7 paid for their now meals. So I’m not sure whose meals I paid for because the other guests paid for their meals
To say I left Capers disappointed would be an understatement. I had spent time on three separate occasions over the course of a week trying to reach out to the management at this establishment to ask some questions about their menu and food restrictions, to never receive any calls back or communication whatsoever. When I arrived for my reservation, I once again tried to speak to someone about my concerns and was assured that my dietary concerns would be addressed as they are quite strict and severe, and that the kitchen was well aware of my rest restrictions. Not once was I offered to speak to a manager, still. We were with a large party for a 60th birthday celebration for my father, and my husband and myself had to sit at the end of the table with no food, watching everyone eat because they brought our meals out containing the items we cannot eat. Our food had to be taken back, remade and brought back out, at which point everyone else was done dinner. We then paid full price and were not spoken to, apologized to, or even provided an opportunity to speak with a manager. I went back in after the rest of the party left and finally got to meet with a manager. She was so entirely unprofessional that I am amazed she holds a role of authority at all. She was rude, unapologetic, and went so far as to insist that I prove to her how I tried to communicate because she absolutely couldn’t believe that her staff didn’t get back to me. When I showed her the proof she still had nothing to say. I told her I was disappointed; that led nowhere. She said have a good night and I walked out the door. I will not be returning, and I don’t recommend anyone else does either.
The food was terrific, but the service was a disappointment. We had the charcuterie, beef tenderloin, beet tartar, and tuna. The food was excellent, although we felt they could have incorporated more lion's mane mushrooms with the beef. However, we felt the service ruined the meal. One of my dinner companions is a medical cannabis patient. He has a back injury and uses cannabis to manage the pain. The server noticed him take a few puffs of a joint to ease his pain so he could sit for a prolonged period while eating, and when he asked for a beer with his meal, she refused to serve him because she noticed him smoke before entering. He showed no signs of impairment (he did not smell, he was speaking fine, his eyes were not red, etc.), and we explained that he was a medical cannabis patient, and was not driving, but she still refused. We asked if he appeared impaired, and she said that was not the point. She seems to have a problem with cannabis as we are familiar with smart serve, having worked in the industry previously, and we are well aware that you need to look for signs of intoxication and cannot serve anyone who appears impared. He has been a medical cannbis patient for a long time and said he has never had this issue before. We felt mistreated and didn't tip, which we regret because we thought the chefs deserved it.

Top notch service + delicious food ! Love this place in our downtown Belleville
This is a lovely spot with good vibes. The braised beef pot pie was well seasoned with flaky pastry layers. The duck confit dish was delicious, one of the best ducks we’ve had! The wagyu burger with kimchi was ok, the patty was too well cooked and dry. There was a peanut sauce but overall the burger was bland. The desserts were good/ok to my liking, they had much less sugar than one would expect. Live music is always a plus, and it adds so much to the atmosphere, we really enjoyed it!
I have lived in Belleville for many years and had unfortunately, never made it down to Capers. The appetizers were just as amazing as our entrees and the atmosphere was perfect. We were even lucky enough to meet the owner whose personality radiates positively into the vibe of the restaurant. After our visit there the other day, we can’t wait go back!
What a great evening my wife and I enjoyed at Capers. We made a reservation and had the perfect table to see the musical performance of Kevin Weaver. Our server, Claire, was outstanding. She suggested and we bought all of her suggestions. The “Dark Wing Duck” drumsticks (5) were the best. We also had a chicken dish with pumpkin polenta that was nothing short of mouthwatering. The Italian Pinot Grigio we washed it down with was beautiful and smooth. For desert we again followed Claire’s lead and had a light chocolate brownie in a caramel sauce with a dollop of whipped cream on top. Everything was spectacular. Kevin Weaver sang two solid sets of songs from the seventies and eighties plus a few of his own fabulous originals. We had driven over from Kingston and it was worth the trip. Bravo everyone at Capers! Well done. Bellevillians…if you haven’t been to this restaurant, do yourself a favor and check it out!
Crystal was amazing and attentive! I have a severe food allergy and she handled it with professionalism and grace.
