“Dear Billie-Jo, Chef Freddie, and the Occasions by the Bay Team: Our daughter, Stella, married her sweetheart, Nicholas, at your venue on Saturday, and all I can say is that the day turned out better than we could have imagined. When looking for a venue that would lessen the travel time for our guests from two sides of the province, we wanted a place that was classy, incorporated Stella and Nicholas’s love of nature, could accommodate Stella’s food allergies and restrictions, and was within our budget. I stumbled upon Occasions by the Bay online, and it met all the criteria, and had the bonuses of being a one-stop-shop, offering event planning support, and a chef with a background in vegan cooking. It was also easily accessible off of the 401. Throughout the planning process, Billie-Jo provided fantastic support. Billie-Jo, you were knowledgeable and creative, accommodating and experienced. Your response time was always quick, and you were an absolute pleasure to deal with. You seemed as excited as we were, and we felt like we were getting a real personalized touch. Stella and Nicholas appreciated the open house décor and tasting event as an opportunity to tour the venue, chose their decorations, and taste the food to work out their menu for the big day. It certainly added to the excitement of the wedding. The rehearsal was so helpful. Your experience, leadership and attention to detail helped us iron out the details and customize the ceremony in a way that felt right to the couple and their families. On the day of the event, we appreciated so much having access to the bridal preparation room. The stylist and make up artist had a much easier time working on the beautiful bridesmaids with proper stylist chairs and full mirrors. Stella’s bridesmaids spent the day bonding with one another and getting ready. It was just such a fun, relaxing experience. The Fairytale Forest wedding ceremony was completely perfect for the nature-loving couple. You had draped the arch for them, arranged the chairs, and I honestly think it was the nicest ceremony I have been to, (though I could be biased). It perfectly met Stella’s wish to feel like a princess, and it paid homage to their love for the outdoors. Their dear dog, Josie, was even included in the ceremony which was quite special. The whole experience was loving and romantic and oh so sweet! While photos were taken on your exquisite grounds, our guests enjoyed the delicious appetizers at the cocktail reception. That’s when we started receiving the compliments on the venue. People really enjoyed sitting on the terrace, walking around the gardens, taking pictures in the gazebo, and mingling with their cocktails in hand. The reception also exceeded our expectations. The ballroom looked gorgeous with its twinkling lights and woodland centrepieces. One of our guests commented that it was the perfect size for our group of 85. There was plenty of room to move around the tables to get to the bar or visit other tables, and it felt intimate and special. There were so many details that we didn’t have to worry about. You had a mirror for the guest list. You had the tables for gifts, the guest book, the buffet, the DJ, and everything else that was needed. It was all ready for us. When I say it was a one-stop-shop, I mean it was a complete one-stop-shop. It may have been our first rodeo, but it wasn’t yours. Stella and Nicholas booked the officiant, DJ, photographer and flowers, and the rest was taken care of by Occasions by the Bay. And then there was the food – it was absolutely delicious and the compliments are still rolling in from our guests. It was important for Stella, a vegan with a nut and gluten allergy, to not have to settle on her wedding day. The buffet dinner allowed her food to be incorporated into the regular meal, and not a curious exception to what everyone else was having. Boy did you deliver! The chickpea marsala was scrumptious. The stuffed peppers were so tasty. The stuffed chicken breast was nothing like the typical banquet hall rubber “
