We were staying in Bellville, Friday night August 29 and were looking for something decent for dinner. We came upon the Lark while driving through downtown. The place was very busy and she sat us at the last table. We started our dinner with the salad and the Salmon Fish cakes, then went with the Shortrib Wellington and the Cod al Forna as the mains and finished up with chocolate dessert. All of them were absolutely perfect and hit the spot.
Service was great, and the wines and cocktails were very good as well.

We went on a Saturday night for dinner. We had a reservation though the restaurant was not full and it was pretty quiet. We started our dinner with the Burrata and the Salmon Fish cakes, then went with the Shortrib Wellington and the Duck as the mains and finished up with one of each of the desserts.
All of them were absolutely perfect and hit the spot.
Service was great, and the wines and cocktails were very good as well. The only thing I missed was Ontario wine options on the menu.

Went here for the first time on a Thursday evening with a reservation. Small restaurant and bar. Casual fine dining. Food contemporary with an Italian tilt. Small menu but something for everyone. Items can be ordered individually or as part of a prix fixe menu for $55pp. We opted for the latter. Note that the menu online is not the same as what we had at the restaurant. The dishes we had included a tomato and peach caprese salad, salmon fish cakes, beef cheek pappardalle and shortrib wellington and finally blueberry ricotta cake. The food was well prepared and tasty with a but. The beef cheek in the pasta was shredded and as I stated to the owner, if I had not been told what it was, I would not have known. The shortrib wellington was deconstructed and was braised shortribs with a small slice of puff pasty on top. One of us stated she would have liked more pastry. Fully licensed. I thought the 7 oz wine pour to be expensive ($17 - 21). Has a BYOB liquor license ($30 corkage). Service was friendly and attentive. Would definitely recommend!

The atmosphere was very welcoming, so was the staff! Food was very tasty and very unique; the Brown Butter Gnocchi was the best Gnocchi my partner and I have ever had! The small format menu makes for an easy decision and the cocktails had their own fancy twists. We highly recommend it if you are in the Belleville area. As for us, we will be coming back since we are local, lucky!

Not sure if this is an official industry term but the fastest way to describe this place is “casual fine dining”.
We ordered the 3-course meal.
The food was expertly prepared and absolutely delicious. My only complaint was that the main was a little on the lighter side in terms of quantity. That being said, we didn’t leave hungry.
It’s a little on the pricey side for a meal but when you take in the entire meal, totally worth every penny! (I guess we need to change that expression to “nickel” now. Lol)
Looking forward to having an opportunity to experience this place again next time we’re in the area.

As always, fantastic dinner!
The Lark is in my opinion the best restaurant in Belleville, and obviouslymy favorite. No pretending, fresh and local ingredients, great value, 3 course for $55.
Cocktails are well thought and well made.
The wine list has great items on it, the owners always manage to balance classics and upcoming wines, we tried the Croatian Bibich, very interesting!
Thanks Alex and Celine for always taking care of us !
