The atmosphere was nice and I really liked the plates and dishware everything was served in — very well-presented. The menu is quite small, though, and as a plant-based eater I felt limited. The dishes were decent but lacked seasoning, and I wish basics like salt, pepper, or cheese had been offered.
Service was friendly but stretched thin since there was only one server who was also the bartender. I had mentioned it was my boyfriend’s birthday both beforehand and again before the meal, and it wasn’t acknowledged in any way. For a restaurant to be aware of a celebration and do nothing at all felt very disappointing for what was supposed to be a special night. Even something as simple as a candle on the dessert would have made a difference. I’ve never been to a restaurant where an occasion wasn’t recognized, so it felt unusually impersonal. Had I known that beforehand, I would have chosen a different restaurant for his birthday dinner. Desserts also fell flat — one was dry and the other was miniature and tasted more like caramel than chocolate.
Overall, the vibe and presentation were nice, but too many details missed the mark. I really wanted to like this place — I’ve heard great things — but our experience just wasn’t what we hoped for. I don’t think I’d return unless I knew the service, food, and overall experience would be better. I wish it had gone differently, especially for a birthday dinner!

I can't compliment this restaurant enough! Delicious food, beautiful atmosphere, the friendliest staff and owners. The Lark was a anniversary dinner for my husband and I, we did make reservations but circumstances had it that we were a bit early for it but they accomodated us with no problems. The drinks were gorgeous, we loved watching them being made, and the food was phenomenal! It is a prefix menu but they rotate the meals based off the seasonal vegetables, you can't pick anything wrong. I had the smoked duck and husband had the Wellington. The owner was whimsical and so lovely to chat to, he made our night feel so special - so thank you! We hope to be back ☺️

The Lark is absolutely incredible! Every time I’m in town, it’s my go-to spot for dinner. The gentleman who served us was wonderfully friendly, full of personality, and mixed an exceptional drink. We were staying in Bellville, Friday night August 29 and were looking for something decent for dinner. We came upon the Lark while driving through downtown. The place was very busy and she sat us at the last table. We started our dinner with the salad and the Salmon Fish cakes, then went with the Shortrib Wellington and the Cod al Forna as the mains and finished up with chocolate dessert. All of them were absolutely perfect and hit the spot. Service was great, and the wines and cocktails were very good as well.

We went on a Saturday night for dinner. We had a reservation though the restaurant was not full and it was pretty quiet. We started our dinner with the Burrata and the Salmon Fish cakes, then went with the Shortrib Wellington and the Duck as the mains and finished up with one of each of the desserts. All of them were absolutely perfect and hit the spot. Service was great, and the wines and cocktails were very good as well. The only thing I missed was Ontario wine options on the menu.
