I actually really loved this cafe up until recently. I’m new to the area, and kindred has been a favourite stop on our long dog walks. My wife asked for a small cup of whip cream the last time we were there for our pup, knowing that this isn’t Starbucks and understood if they said no! But they didn’t and that was appreciated. When I came in during our most recent trip I spent almost $30 on two drinks and two cookies, plus tip. One drink I asked to hold the whip and the other one with. Then asked if it were okay to get a small cup of whip for our dog, and I would pay for it if they wanted me to! After getting our drinks and putting the lid on them another woman came to help the other person working, and very condescendingly told me “we don’t normally do pup cups, she’s new, that’s why she did that, but we don’t do them.” And I apologized and left. But the more I thought about the situation, the more disappointed I felt in how that interaction went.
The person working, new or not, was kind and competent. I think that was quite rude to be so condescending about her inexperience. I also offered to pay, and had no whip on one of my drinks which could have easily just replaced that in the small cup provided. A solution could have been “we normally don’t do pup cups, but we could consider it moving forward! For now though we won’t be able to.” I would have totally understood and wouldn’t have felt so ridiculous about a cup of whip cream. It all just felt so passive aggressive and condescending. I did have an interaction with the same woman prior to this event and it was very much the same vibe.
I won’t be returning to this coffee shop. It made me feel small and weird. I think a coffee shop should feel more like community. New folks working, new folks coming in and starting a new life, and even our dogs ARE our community.

Our coffee was good. Nice, clean and roomy interior. Server was fast and friendly. We wish that they could offer more sweets/pastries. Looking forward to try sandwich next time we're in Bobcagion.

The best cafe in Kawartha Lakes is a must-visit! This cozy spot has a unique cottage feel, making it stand out from the one we tried in Lindsay. We had an amazing experience and highly recommend the cream cheese Montreal bagel, egg muffin, and their cold brews.🩶

Beautifully renovated location. Went there twice while on holidays. Had their iced latte special - Sweet Coconut Cream Pie Latte and it was fantastic. The Wafflewich was fantastic - make sure you eat it with the chipotle ketchup provided. It's the perfect blend of sweet, savoury and a hint of heat. The cookies were okay. The rosemary and sea salt bagels flown in from St. Viateur in Montreal were amazing. The early morning staff were chipper and friendly - a d it was clear they loved their job! The staff when we went to lunch were the previous day were different. They looked tired and weren't very outgoing, friendly or enthusiastic.

Wow! I happened to be in the right place at the right time and got a ham and cheese croissant fresh out of the oven.
You may say that transcendent is too strong of a word to apply to a pastry, but it certainly had me considering the complex series of events that lead me here for them first time. How many variations and possibilities of time and space unfolding, exist on some unknown plane, that fail to bring that croissant and my mouth together? I shudder to think that there may be some uncountable many me's in parallel existence, living in pure ignorance of that warm and gooey pocket of pure bliss.
The Americano and lemon square were also top-notch.
Friendly staff, clean and inviting interior with lots of natural light. The space is comfortable with the use of efficient heat pumps. I can't wait to come back to this 'restaurant at the edge of the universe'!

Got the iced matcha latte. It was very watered down. Also the barista had some attitude and was passive aggressive, maybe they’re overworked

Coffee excellent. Would definitely choose over Tim Hortons. My spouse had tea, which she says was also excellent: loose leaf not bagged.
