We were excited to take our family to see Steve Michaels at Spot One. Unfortunately, the expectation far exceeded the reality. No one could properly explain the seating arrangements; concerts are “general seating”, so, booking early gets you a reservation. We were advised to book a dinner at the restaurant to guarantee seating for the event. Despite booking when the entertainer advertised, our seats were by the washrooms. The meals were absolutely horrible beyond belief; different drinks were sent to our table, we had: the garlic bread, a submarine bun sparsely sprinkled with with marble cheese; cocktail shrimp sautéed in oily, tasteless marinara was their buttery shrimp; overcooked and watery fettuccine with brown-tipped broccoli; rubbery “chicken” with a gelatinous, non-discernible supposed mushroom sauce; non-prime cut, non-fat rendered steak with overcooked and colourless “seasonal veggies”. It is a rare occasion when we don’t leave a tip, but our experience at the restaurant and with Deanna did not deserve any extra expense, her response, after putting her hand in my face to silence me, was to yell that she didn’t make the food as she literally watched my every stroke on the cash machine, yelled that I left no tip for a $100 table and then told me she’d remember my face. Eat elsewhere! We loved Steve Michaels, but seeing him in a venue where he repeatedly remarked on the sound was so not worth the $50 non-refundable tickets. Epic fail!
