The Olde School Restaurant

Everyone had told us that this was the best place that they had ever eaten. I have been to plenty of places and this blew everything out out of the water. The service from our waiter Cory was absolutely next level. He read our group to a T and was absolutely hilarious but in all the appropriate ways. He 100% enhanced our experience. The restaurant itself had amazing ornate details. The decor was extremely special. This is truly a place that you haven’t quite seen before, from the stained glass windows to the details on the chairs to the light fixtures. This is a place that is all about the details. Let me tell you about this food though, every single thing I had was absolutely the best I had ever had, and I don’t say this lightly by any means. Every cut of beef at our table could be cut easily with a butter knife. The seafood was absolutely enormous and cooked to perfection. I don’t think I’ve ever even had vegetables cooked as well as these. There is flavour throughout everything and not in a way that overpowers the dish, but in a way that complements it. If you were looking for somewhere that is special this is it.

Amazing! We celebrated my mom's 75th birthday yesterday here and it was by far a great choice! The food is delicious! The service was fantastic! Juan was our server and he did an excellent job! All of us enjoyed our meals. A group of 5 in a quiet spot. The piano bar was open and we had some lovely music that serenaded the whole resturant. Fine dining at it's best. A little place in Paris you wouldn't think you'd find. Queen Elizabeth II has even eaten here! June 28, 1997.

My wife and I love going here for dinner, the prices are incredible, the food is amazing, the owner greets everyone that comes in with respect and talks with you, goes out of his way for everyone that comes, lets talk about the food… it’s truly the most amazing tasting experience ever, you feel like royalty with every visit, Gus the owner is a very hard working man and makes sure that everything is perfect down to every detail.. not enough stars could rate this restaurant

School house has a cool vibe inside, however the food and service is the main dollar value and sadly it was terrible disappointment. It was an overpriced meal, not worth the $$. I had salmon, mashed potatoes, vegetables and everything was tasteless and overcooked and under season. We will not be back!

We were there for a celebration. The atmosphere is wonderful. The service with Juan was exceptional but the food was just ok. The veal was tender and cooked to perfection. The sauce was very salty. The potatoes were lack lustre and dry. The vegetables were disappointing. For a higher end restaurant the food could use an upgrade.

I booked a private room for a family party of 8. The room we were put in had a public access bathroom in it that multiple people during our dinner had to interrupt us to use. Two of them in wheelchairs and my senior mother and uncle had to get up from eating their dinner 4 times because there was not enough space to pass by. Of course people need to use the washroom but the room was NOT private at all and it was very uncomfortable for my family and for the people going in and out of our room I'm sure. I mentioned my complaint to the owner and he was argumentative, somewhat rude and offered nothing to make our experience better. Also, my steak was very sub par with far too much chewy fat and my Mother was not satisfied with her meal one bit. Next Christmas we will be booking elsewhere.

I am writing this review to share a very disappointing experience at Olde School Restaurant.

We dined as a party of six. Five of the six meals were acceptable; however, my wife’s filet mignon was overcooked and very dry. She chose not to make an issue of it at the time in order to avoid discomfort at the table.

What truly ruined the evening, however, was the attitude we encountered afterward. At one point, we were told, “You have money, you can spend it here.” This comment was inappropriate, disrespectful, and completely unprofessional.

Our total bill, including food and drinks, exceeded $700, which I paid in full by credit card. I left a modest tip based on the size of the party rather than the total bill, with the intention of leaving additional cash on the table afterward, as I prefer to tip in cash. Unfortunately, before I had the opportunity to do so, the waiter approached me and whispered to my ear that the tip was very slim .This interaction was uncomfortable, unnecessary, and highly inappropriate.

Guests should never be made to feel pressured or shamed regarding gratuity. Tipping is voluntary, not an obligation, and it is not the customer’s responsibility to supplement wages through confrontation or guilt.

Adding to the disappointment, the restaurant is extremely expensive for what it offers. The utensils and plates are outdated, and won't even mention standard of the restrooms, which further detracted from the overall experience.

Based on the food quality, atmosphere, facilities, and—most importantly—the unprofessional behavior of the staff, I will not be returning and would not recommend this establishment.
