Chuck’s Roadhouse Bar & Grill

We stopped in last evening after a weekend hockey tournament in Kingston. It was my 50th birthday and my wife and daughter wanted to take me out to dinner. We decided to go to Chucks as its been a great franchise all across Ontario.
It was busy. I think understaffed, or maybe they got an unexpected rush on a Sunday evening. We waited at the door a few minutes and got a seat for the 3 of us.
We got our drinks promptly, and ordered 2 7oz top sirloin plates, and a chicken parmesan.

The wait was long but given it was busy we cut them some slack.
The food finally came, and it was lousy. The steak was blah, and chewy. Fries were cold, almost left over from the day before. Not many fries to boot. Just a handful. The chicken was ok. The pasta had a sauce almost like ketchup.

We didn't make a stink. We were tired and just wanted to go home. This experience left us baffled as every other Chucks we have been to has been great. Our "go to" is off of Baxter road in Ottawa.

We love Chucks. This one is a head scratcher. Not the norm.

Dirty restaurant everything was greasy. Service was terrible. Ordered 2 appetizer which came at 2 different times' and had to send one back because they didn't but garlic butter on it.
My husband ordered a medium steak which came out well and I ordered mine well done which came out medium gross and bloody. The mashed potatoes were definitely not real potatoes 'gross '. Over all disappointing for a steak house I drove 50 minutes too since non in home town.

Always extremely loud and the waitress kept getting our order wrong for one person at our table. So much so that she decided not to have the drink and the waitress kept pushing well you ordered it. Um yes I did but you keep getting it wrong so I don't want it thx.

Food and service was great. One of the best Chicken quesadilla iv ever had. Chicken wings were also delicious 😋 Definitely will be back :)

The cost-benefit ratio is very good. Maybe a little more atmosphere. The place is very clean.

YOU PAY A 3% "CHUCK'S" TAX ON EVERYTHING, PLUS THE 13% TAX, PLUS TIP !! They hide the notication in their beverage menu, thereby notifying you of this TAX. I don't know if this is even legal? They say it's for the cheap price of their steaks and lobster, but from the reviews, it seems that their meat and lobster are sub-par!!

The food is flavorless. The chicken was tender but almost water-ed down tasting.
Most likely not the fault of the Cook, but of the franchise?
If you are looking for flavour, I don't recommend it

We were here in June 2024. My husband and I both had the New York Steak with Fries and Corn. Delicious! Our waiter was friendly and efficient. A great meal here at Chuck's!

Just left 10:30 at night after waiting 10 minutes to get seated and then another ignored for 10 minutes in our booth we walked out. It wasn’t overly crowded, but I honestly think the servers look even more mad than we did. This might just be a guess, but I have to feel that poor management may have been what contributed to a lacklustre atmosphere and absolutely no effort on part of the staff.

The 15$ steak , fries and corn supper was delicious. And a pint of beer only 5$. The service was great. We loved the sports bar feeling, with all those big TV screens.
