We went to the restaurant with seniors and people with special abilities, the restaurant owner did a great job and got everything organized for us. The staff was really kind and the food was great. Highly recommend for big parties and social gathering.

We normally love the Halibut House chain of restaurants, but our visit to the Burlington (Dundas St.) location was a horrible experience. The food itself was disappointing, but what really upset me was the dishonesty and lack of integrity from the gentleman who served us in the end. That’s the reason I’m writing this review, otherwise I would have just left it alone. Honesty and good customer service are important in this industry, and what happened here was the opposite.
Things started out well; we were greeted warmly and our orders were taken by a very kind gentleman who seemed caring and genuine. But from there, it went downhill. I ordered clam chowder to start, and it came out very thick, gelatinous, and completely bland. For my meal, I ordered grilled salmon with a side Greek salad, and my daughters ordered kids’ halibut fish and chips, and a kids’ burger.
Partway through eating, I realized my salmon was badly undercooked—about two-thirds of the thick portion was completely raw. The outside was pale with no grill marks or browning, so I should have suspected, and on top there was a lemon mixture that tasted unpleasant, like chemicals almost. The menu also said it would be served with the skin on, but it wasn’t, which was another big letdown. When I sent it back with a second gentleman, he barely said a word, half-heartedly apologized, left it on the table, and walked away. No offer was made to replace it until he came back and I asked for a small piece of fried fish. Thankfully, that piece was cooked properly and tasted good.
After sending my salmon back, I checked my daughter’s burger, and to my shock, it was also undercooked—pink inside with no browning at all on the outside. She’s only seven and had already eaten almost half of it, which is unacceptable and so unsafe. When I mentioned this, the gentleman insisted he had cooked it properly despite me showing him the pink inside. My other daughter’s fish and chips were fine—dry, but fine. Both of their servings of fries were greasy and not salted at all.
The most upsetting part came at the end. When we asked for the bill, the same gentleman showed up with the payment machine already in hand but didn’t hand over the actual bill. It felt like he was hoping I’d just pay without looking and like he was trying to hide it. When I asked to see it (I had to prompt for it to be handed over to me; it was obvious what he was trying to do) I saw the salmon and burger and all items still on the bill. I told him it's not right to charge me for a completely undercooked salmon and burger. He left with the bill quietly and came back, again, trying to withhold handing me the bill. I asked for it from him again and I noticed that while the salmon and burger were taken off, he had added another kids’ meal (for the one tiny replacement piece of fried fish with no side) and even a side salad, which I didn’t eat after it had been served with the raw salmon. We were still charged for my other daughter’s fish and chips, which was fair, but the extra charges felt like an intentional attempt to cover the cost dishonestly.
As someone who works in the food industry, I found this whole experience disrespectful and upsetting. Serving raw salmon and an undercooked child’s burger is bad enough, but trying to hide the bill and being sneaky about charges on the bill is crossing a line. At that point, I decided not to fight about it anymore, paid, and left. But I will never return to this location. I truly hope management takes this seriously, because honesty and integrity matter so much—and what we experienced was the exact opposite. I hope it's a lesson learned to that gentleman with no integrity. Have some repsect for your customers.
I had the Monday special Haddock and chips and I must say it's comparable to the best I've ever had. The Haddock was delicious, a nice sized portion, cooked perfectly and the coating was light and crispy. The fries were delicious as well, cooked perfectly. Golden brown, lightly crisp on the outside and sift on the inside. First time customer but I'll be back and I highly recommend Halibut House if you like fish & chips.

There was more batter than fish.
A very small filet of fish buried somewhere in the fried batter

First off they were out of hamburgers, not a big deal but the cashier was clueless and had to look at his buddy who did not seem to speak or understand what’s going on…
Seemed they did not want to cook one so they just said they had none, proceeded to order fish and chips and a salad and calamari
The fish was ok the chips were soggy and had no texture to them… Harvey’s has better fries to be honest. Oh and that’s where I had to get a burger from
The calamari for the cost we only got about 8 chunks of thick calamari giant waste of money
Then the salad….. they should have just lied and said they were sold out like the burgers because the lettuce was the week old left overs drenched in dressing. With half a box of croutons
Good quality is going down hill and staff that don’t care about it either
Save your money and buy fish anywhere else because halibut house is not worth it

Too much oil is being used to fry the fish and not evenly fried with the batter. Need to improvise a little. Also, fish needs to be marinated inside with salt, as too bland.
