“Be prepared for a long read because I have had a lot of ‘rave’ moments with Franca and her amazing company!!

Franca and her team produce hands down some of the best food I have had someone prepare for me. One of the keys I believe is that she focuses on the best, freshest ingredients, not the cheapest. So that means trips to the veg markets and farms to get the best available and seasonal produce. and you can tell the difference. Take for example a deceptively simple kebab dish with tofu, peppers, zucchini, mushrooms, red onion, corn on the cob. coated with the lightest seasoning and served on rice with a tzatziki sauce on the side which i loved but barely needed since the pure taste of the veggies shone through. It was a bit of a sensory revelation for me since I am usually a sauce gal - everything drowning in some savoury sauce - but this was perfect! I mean, it felt like i was rediscovering the beauty of these fairly humble vegetables.

So that’s the difference that quality ingredients + a great chef makes.

And then, Savor’s chia puddings🔥. I have been obsessed with the mango chia pudding which was dreamy. But it has now been topped by the rock-your-world “peach cobbler chia pudding”. Which I think could be on any top restaurant menu as a luscious and decadent dessert. Only the ‘catch’ is, it is healthy😆!!

And then there is the most recent delivery with borscht, and a cauliflower soup with turnips! I mean who does that at a food delivery company?! And a French onion lentil bake on farro. Farro!! A scrumptious grain which very few people have tasted and I am too lazy to cook myself. Yes, and Franca once served popped amaranth!! Again, who does that?! An inspired and creative chef that’s who👩🏻‍🍳.

She rotates her menus constantly. So much so that there is no possibility of boredom. There have been a few misses for me, but then, that’s what experimentation is all about. And creativity is the sign of a great chef. I (and other clients) beg her when I want a repeat of something I feel I cannot live without (um…chia pudding…).

Other notable delicious dishes: Cauliflower curry - perfectly cooked cauliflower florets (still firm not soggy), chickpeas (NOT from cans and does that ever make a difference), cashews, in a light delicately seasoned curry sauce. Breakfast quesadillas -with beans, and all the good stuff served with a fresh and lively pico de gallo (best i have had) and perfect cashew sour cream.
