Sakai Japanese And Korean Restaurant offers a diverse menu of authentic Japanese and Korean dishes, providing a delightful dining experience. The soondubu, a Korean soft tofu stew, is a fan favorite. The bibimbap, a signature Korean rice dish, is well-received, with the gochujang (Korean chili paste) adding a flavorful kick. The bulgogi, marinated beef, is good, but the standout is the buchimgae, a Korean pancake. The maki platter is also a decent option. The restaurant's semi-private rooms contribute to the authentic atmosphere. Service is attentive, though a bit slow at times. Overall, Sakai is an excellent introduction to Korean cuisine, inspiring diners to explore more. The fresh mackerel sashimi and soft-shell crab appetizer also receive high praise, making Sakai a hidden gem worth discovering. Diners thoroughly enjoyed a late lunch/early dinner, with the Omakase-style dining providing dish after dish of deliciousness. Tuna tataki, kalbi, and steak tartar were enjoyed, with a great balance of flavors, textures, and temperatures. The sushi, including Hokkaido scallops and ebi (shrimp), was impressive by its details and presentation, described as the best ever. The crème brûlée finished the meal, delicate and just the perfect amount of sweet. While the food took a little longer to arrive, it was good when it arrived, and the service was great, very attentive and friendly. Downsides include no online ordering and orders not being started until arrival for pick-up.
