We had a great experience at Sakai! At first, we thought the prices were a bit on the higher side, but given the location in Burlington, it made sense — and once the food arrived, we realized it was totally worth it. The portions were generous, and the flavors were so authentic and delicious. The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, especially with our kids. They even gave us an extra appetizer and checked in often to make sure everything was going well. We’ll definitely be coming back!

All of the staff are incredibly lovely, kind, and hospitable.
The food was absolutely delicious.
Jackie was our server, and she took such great care of us for the entire evening.
We will 1000% be back. Thank you Sakai!

One word “WOW” this is the place to go if you are a sushi fan, it far weighs out the rest. We love it so much we made this our only stop for sushi. There are no words you need to try it for yourself, do yourself a favour.

Has been there a few times. But this time the food is not as good as before. The food is over priced. Apparently it was understaffed. Not recommend.
Our favorite spot for Japanese/Korean cuisine!!
Always amazing food and the friendliest service. Highly recommend!!

Overall very good sushi. Enjoy our take out orders from here. Downsides are no online ordering (skip the dishes, uber eats, etc don't count as prices are inflated on their platforms) and the past couple of times when I showed up at my requested pick up time it's as if they didn't start making my order until I showed up. So then I have to sit there waiting for 20 mins for the order to be prepared.
Dinner
Went for dinner and wasnt satisfied with the service and food. We ordered nabe udon, chirashi and chicken katsu.
*Nabe udon
The noodles in this soup were a handful. Like literally a handful. It’s mostly water and other floating ingredients. Shrimps were tiny and dont even get me started with the soup. It’s watered down broth. For the 20 per bowl price is not worth it.
*Chirashi
Again, for the price they are charging (32 per order) you would expect a decent tasting chirashi. The rice that comes with this is supposed to be sushi rice. The rice i got was cold rice with no flavour. The variety of raw fish was good though.
*Chicken katsu
No taste. Chicken was dry
*Service
Very slow. Took 20 minutes to take the order and took longer for the food to come. Nobody even came to check on us and we have to flag down the overwhelmed looking waitress for green tea refill several times
*Waitress
I took my 3 year old daughter to the bathroom. My daughter said “the water is blue” and as i was explaining what it was, the waitress came out of the other stall (didnt know she was there) and sarcastically said “it’s blue because we clean it!” She said it so rudely to my little one. I had to calmly explain what it is to my daughter again. Her rudeness was unnecessary.
Will never go back again. Please believe the 1 star rating here. Very disappointed with service and food!
Really great sushi. My go-to place for consistent quality and taste.

The salmon sashimi and house made teryaki are some of the best I've had. Recommend!

Ventured to GTA west yesterday to buy something off of FB Marketplace and decided to see what Burlington had to offer by way of Asian food. We thoroughly enjoyed a late lunch/early dinner at Sakai. We arrived at 4:30pm - optimal time before the dinner rush! We dined Omakase-style and were greeted by dish after dish of deliciousness. We began with tuna tataki, kalbi, and steak tartar - great balance of flavours, textures, and temperatures. It wasn’t until we got to the sushi that I had the presence of mind to snap some photos - pulled out my phone because I was impressed by the details and presentation. Sadly, I didn’t snap a pic of our Hokkaido scallops or ebi (shrimp). Best I’ve ever had. I would have taken more pics but my usually-fussy about food 17-year old was actually impatient to get to each next bite. That alone speaks for itself! We finished our meal with crème brûlée - delicate and just the perfect amount of sweet. Thanks to John and his family, and amazing team for a meal to remember.
