The salmon sashimi and house made teryaki are some of the best I've had. Recommend!

Ventured to GTA west yesterday to buy something off of FB Marketplace and decided to see what Burlington had to offer by way of Asian food. We thoroughly enjoyed a late lunch/early dinner at Sakai. We arrived at 4:30pm - optimal time before the dinner rush! We dined Omakase-style and were greeted by dish after dish of deliciousness. We began with tuna tataki, kalbi, and steak tartar - great balance of flavours, textures, and temperatures. It wasn’t until we got to the sushi that I had the presence of mind to snap some photos - pulled out my phone because I was impressed by the details and presentation. Sadly, I didn’t snap a pic of our Hokkaido scallops or ebi (shrimp). Best I’ve ever had. I would have taken more pics but my usually-fussy about food 17-year old was actually impatient to get to each next bite. That alone speaks for itself! We finished our meal with crème brûlée - delicate and just the perfect amount of sweet. Thanks to John and his family, and amazing team for a meal to remember.

It’s Friday of a long weekend. The only table was the bar. The food took a little longer but it was good when it arrived. Service was great. Very attentive and friendly.

Maki rolls were fine taste wise. However, they were pretty small in size, and the dynamite rolls had an unreasonable amount of rice and less filling. Water refill was also not offered, and the waitress was MIA for a bit.

My husband and I have been coming to Sakai for years. We realized we had not been there in a while so we decided to stop for lunch on Saturday August 3rd. First, we were greeted by the waitress from back where they pick up the food and she pointed to where we were suppose to sit. I did not know where she was pointing to, she then came closer and showed us. Not a good start. We tried to get an understanding of the difference between the lunch special bento box and the regular menu bento box which seemed the same to us. The waitress tried to explain but we could not understand the explanation the waitress gave us. In the end we ordered the bento box but not the special. I had the chicken teriyaki which use to be delicious but this time was dry and there was hardly any sauce and what sauce there was I don't think was the same as they use to serve. The couple of pieces of vegetable that came with it were nice. My husband had a pork dish which was again dry and very overcooked, the sauce that was for dipping was good. The two sides that came in the bento box were horrible tasting, we both didn't like them and my husband likes everything. We had ordered tempura veg and shrimp as an appetizer, everything all game at once and I think the oil needed to be changed in the deep fryer as it wasn't great either. They have added a deep fried leaf which was awful, I am sure that cost about 1 cent to serve instead of another piece of vegetable. The miso soup is still good but you only get a half a bowl and the bowl is small. I am very sad that this was our experience as we use to really enjoy having lunch here but we won't be back.

I don't know how this restaurant only scores a 4.5! Dined there for the first time and was so impressed! Firstly, they managed to rearrange tables to accommodate us because they were full. They were all so helpful and friendly! Secondly, and most importantly, the food. From the complimentary kimchi and Korean tea, which was delicious, to the dumpling starter to the main course ... first class all the way. Fresh, tasty and great portion size and it all looked so healthy! Will definitely return. A true gem in Burlington and highly underrated!

Went around 4 and the restaurant was quiet right before work. The vibes of the restaurant were great, by the time we left at 6 it was packed.

We got the sashimi platter which was an alright size for 2 people, definitely won't be full. Note that each sushi had wasabi underneath which I wasn't a fan of but my partner was. I would say the prices are a bit high in this location but nothing crazy.
