We needed a place on short warning due to our usual place being shut down over the time we needed a place for 15-20 people. I appreciate that the coordinator for fulfilling our lunch needs after we put my mother into the Auld Kirk Cemetery in Almonte. The food was 'diner' style but good at that. Atmosphere? I guess it was fine. I did find a long time between taking and bringing drinks and taking the food order which was notable. We arrived around 12:15 and we left around 14:30 which was a good 30 minutes longer than expected. No real complaints other than the gap between drinks and taking food order. I'd go back.

Dropped in here for lunch on my way to Ottawa. The food was ok , a little over priced for what it was but the portion sizes were good. Staff was friendly , service was quick and the restaurant was clean . I'd come back but probably for breakfast next time . Over all it was ok .

I took my daughter here the other day for dinner and to watch the beginning of the hockey game. Our server Novena was amazing, super sweet and loved hockey. Never had to ask for a refill on water or pop. She was on top of it. Loved the kids eat free, will come again. :)

I went into Zaks in Carleton Place the other day for lunch and I had a server named Chantel. She was amazing and sooooooo polite. She made me feel like I've been coming in for year's. She was very polite and welcoming. I have never been served by someone so giving. Her service was on point and attentive. If you're visiting this location I would recommend asking for Chantel as server.

We usually come here for a ukulele Jam at least once a month, and the staff here are always polite and quick with service. Considering there's between 50 and 100 of us at any given time, it can get quite busy. The food is always fresh and the staff are always happy and polite.

Very disappointed. First time going here and we waited over an hour and a half for our food. Server said she didn't know what happened. I guess we were forgotten? Asked for coffee to drink, was served it once at the beginning and then wasn't refilled or checked on for an hour. The server then came to explain she wasn't sure what happened meanwhile the tables on either side of us arrived, ordered, ate and left in the time we waited for our food. We were given a discount, but that doesn't really make up for it or make us want to come back. The food was mediocre at best, sweet potato fries don't come with chipotle for dipping though, and serving size was really small. I got the grilled cheese burger and sweet potato fries. I can rarely finish a plate at any restaurant, but no, I actually could've eaten desert there but I didn't want to wait again since we had places to go. For what costs over $20 I expect it to fill my tiny belly at the very least. There was also a big group doing a music jam session thing with terrible music and terrible audio quality. And this is coming from someone who loves live jam sessions and grew up playing Irish music in pubs. Still ended up paying $45 for two meals and two coffees. Meanwhile when we were looking at the menu we were very excited and planning our next dinner here. Well we definitely won't be back.

My husband and I go to Zaks in CP almost every Sunday and have only ever had great experiences until today.
We were seated at the same time as the table next to us. Our waitress didn’t acknowledge us once. We sat for 20 minutes during which time she brought drinks to both tables on either side us, and took food orders, all while not even taking our drink order or even saying she would be right with us. After 20 minutes we walked out.
Disappointing when like I said we have only ever had good experiences.

I know they said to talk to them in person first before leaving an Internet review but would they have even cared to listen? Because it took too long to get their attention for anything.

Absolutely amazing service that actually respects people's accommodations and allergies.
I have celiac disease which means I am unfortunately unable to eat gluten (wheat, barley, etc.) unless I want to get really sick. One time, I ordered the Zac's Big Breakfast here and had asked them to replace the home fries (which weren't gluten-free) with some fresh fruit. They sent in the plate with home fries, and I immediately told them about it. Instead of being very weirdly defensive about it or denying that it had cross contamination (like other diners are around the area), they immediately apologized and gave me a new plate with the fresh fruit instead of the home fries. I came back there a few weeks later, and ordered the same thing. They remembered me and made sure that what I ordered did not have any cross contamination.
Aside from that, the food is pretty fresh and standard diner food. If you like eating out at old-fashioned diners, then you won't be disappointed. The waitress working there with the curly hair is also really nice. The atmosphere can be packed with people and can feel overwhelming for some but hey, shit happens.
This diner has been very accommodating and very understanding for people with celiac disease, which is incredibly refreshing considering the Zak's Diner in Kanata removed gluten-free options on their menu, and I highly recommend this place if you have celiac disease or know someone who suffers from it.
