Very disappointed. First time going here and we waited over an hour and a half for our food. Server said she didn't know what happened. I guess we were forgotten? Asked for coffee to drink, was served it once at the beginning and then wasn't refilled or checked on for an hour. The server then came to explain she wasn't sure what happened meanwhile the tables on either side of us arrived, ordered, ate and left in the time we waited for our food. We were given a discount, but that doesn't really make up for it or make us want to come back. The food was mediocre at best, sweet potato fries don't come with chipotle for dipping though, and serving size was really small. I got the grilled cheese burger and sweet potato fries. I can rarely finish a plate at any restaurant, but no, I actually could've eaten desert there but I didn't want to wait again since we had places to go. For what costs over $20 I expect it to fill my tiny belly at the very least. There was also a big group doing a music jam session thing with terrible music and terrible audio quality. And this is coming from someone who loves live jam sessions and grew up playing Irish music in pubs. Still ended up paying $45 for two meals and two coffees. Meanwhile when we were looking at the menu we were very excited and planning our next dinner here. Well we definitely won't be back.

My husband and I go to Zaks in CP almost every Sunday and have only ever had great experiences until today.
We were seated at the same time as the table next to us. Our waitress didn’t acknowledge us once. We sat for 20 minutes during which time she brought drinks to both tables on either side us, and took food orders, all while not even taking our drink order or even saying she would be right with us. After 20 minutes we walked out.
Disappointing when like I said we have only ever had good experiences.

I know they said to talk to them in person first before leaving an Internet review but would they have even cared to listen? Because it took too long to get their attention for anything.

Absolutely amazing service that actually respects people's accommodations and allergies.

I have celiac disease which means I am unfortunately unable to eat gluten (wheat, barley, etc.) unless I want to get really sick. One time, I ordered the Zac's Big Breakfast here and had asked them to replace the home fries (which weren't gluten-free) with some fresh fruit. They sent in the plate with home fries, and I immediately told them about it. Instead of being very weirdly defensive about it or denying that it had cross contamination (like other diners are around the area), they immediately apologized and gave me a new plate with the fresh fruit instead of the home fries. I came back there a few weeks later, and ordered the same thing. They remembered me and made sure that what I ordered did not have any cross contamination.

Aside from that, the food is pretty fresh and standard diner food. If you like eating out at old-fashioned diners, then you won't be disappointed. The waitress working there with the curly hair is also really nice. The atmosphere can be packed with people and can feel overwhelming for some but hey, shit happens.

This diner has been very accommodating and very understanding for people with celiac disease, which is incredibly refreshing considering the Zak's Diner in Kanata removed gluten-free options on their menu, and I highly recommend this place if you have celiac disease or know someone who suffers from it.

The goat cheese chicken sandwich with their "homie" (hollandaise) poutine was out of this world. 10/10 plan on coming here again the next time I'm in Canada.

After not coming back for almost a year because we had so many bad experiences here, we decided to give it another try since our usual breakfast place was closed. The wait was long but understandable with the staff they had for the crowd. Table that was sat after us ate and paid ready to leave as we got our meals. Eggs benedict had obviously been sitting under the heat lamp for a while since my eggs were not runny and the smoked salmon had become flaky. The waitress offered to comp the meal to us and asked if she could bring something else instead. Got one new egg on the side with hollandaise and salmon. Someone else brought us the bill with both meals charged and a mocaccino I never got because the espresso machine was broken. We had to wait some more to finally be able to leave this place. We only got 20%off on the eggs benedict why bother telling us you won’t charge

Went on a Sunday afternoon for dinner. Despite being seated promptly, we sat for 24 minutes without being acknowledged. No water, no server to take orders, no “hey I’ll be right over”, nothing. Reasonably, we left to go somewhere else. I doubt the server even realized we left since they didn’t realize we got sat either.

We stopped in to kill some time and had happy hour shakes and fries. Everything was great and the prices were really reasonable. We look forward to our next visit.

Great atmosphere and delicious food! Food was ready super quick too, so no long wait time. I had the Breakfast Poutine and my friend had the Grilled Cheese Burger and we both loved our meals! Definitely would come back here if I find myself passing through Carleton Place again.

It's rare to find a restaurant with great staff, great food and great atmosphere. My family and I were greeted on arrival and seated within seconds. The waitress was very nice and attentive throughout.

The food was really good and all of our group enjoyed their meals. Although we all could not finish because the portions were large, which is a good thing!

I would highly recommend the burgers and their breakfasts!
