I recently visited the A&W location in Cobourg over the weekend, a place I’ve frequented many times over the years, especially in the last two. Unfortunately, this visit was disappointing. From the start, the customer service felt off. I ordered the same item I’ve been ordering for over a decade at multiple A&W locations without issue. This time, the staff member was argumentative and insisted I had to be charged extra for items I have never been charged for before. The interaction felt unnecessarily confrontational and unaccommodating. When I questioned it, the employee called over a manager, seemingly to reinforce the same position rather than resolve the situation. No effort was made to find a reasonable solution or acknowledge my long-standing experience as a customer. In the end, this came down to roughly a $3 difference, but it cost the restaurant an entire order and, unfortunately, my future business. I value consistency and respectful customer service, and this experience missed the mark. Disappointing, especially given how often I’ve supported this location in the past.

Ordered a mozza burger combo and received a burger with only mayo, ketchup, mustard, onion, and pickle on it. That being said the food was good and hot. However, when I asked for extra napkins at the window I was told “1 meal gets one napkin because it’s not that messy” had to laugh at that one. I would also like to mention how dirty this location is inside. Tables are never cleaned and everything is greasy/sticky.

I just want to thank the A&W staff for the Teen Burger Combo and surprisingly a mango drink the onions rings melted in my mouth the burger was scrumptious 😋 the the late night dinner was all good I look forward to come visit A&W in the near future 🫶🫶🫶

I hadn't been to A&W in a while since Wendy's is so much cheaper and has become my go-to for a fast food meal that fills you up for a reasonable price. A&W costs more than Wendy's but the food is good and after seeing the $10 teen burger combo advertised I decided to go and am sad to report that shrinkflation has arrived at A&W. I got the teen burger combo with onion rings. 9 onion rings, that's if you count the one that was just slightly bigger than an oreo cookie. A regular order of onion rings on their menu costs 6 or 7 dollars, that is basically a dollar a ring after tax. What the Santa Claus? I remember when the bags used to be overflowing, this visit made just reminded me of what it would be like if A&W onion rings had the equivalent of a small McDonalds fry, you know, the ones that used to come in the tiny white bag and cost like 69 cents. The teen burger used to be big enough that with the side you got a decent meal and it would fill you up. I was still hungry after finishing this and I am not a big eater. I used to have difficulty sometimes finishing an A&W combo and would have leftover rings for later. Not this visit. Not acceptable, being left hungry still after spending 15 bucks after taxes/upgrading the fries to onion rings(and why is there an upcharge for this anyway?). The portions have gotten too small to justify A&W's higher price than its competitors. 3 stars service rating is for the drive thru, they got the order right and there were no problems so that gets a pass. As for the 1 star for atmosphere, not sure what inside is like currently but the last time I went in it was a dump. There was an infestation of flies, but at least the massive spider webs above the counter and behind the till were catching some of them I guess! Better to go through the drive thru and not think about what might be going on in there. Gone are the days of pretty girls on rollerskates bringing your food to the car!
