This place looks like your typical tourist trap from the outside, but you definitely don’t want to judge this book by its cover. (1) we ordered a hand scooped strawberry ice cream. The waffle cone was packed with a generous portion of ice cream which had the consistency and taste of proper old fashioned ice cream. We were admittedly surprised, and went back in to order two strawberry milkshakes. The milkshakes were just as good, with a perfect balance of creaminess, and topped with whipped cream. (2) we also went next door and ordered a large fries, ribbon fries, and two gravies, Again, we were caught off guard at how good these fries were. They were cooked perfectly and can compete with any fry-truck experience. The star of the show are the ribbon cut fries. They’re like fresh potato chips, and you have to dip them in the cup of gravy for that next level taste. The ice cream and two milkshakes were about $22. The large fries, ribbon fries, and two gravies were $21. The prices are what you’d expect in a touristy area, but they’re not anymore expensive than your typical mall food court. The staff is friendly and was able to manage the large crowds nicely. We had zero issues and will definitely go back again the next time we’re in the area.

Quaint little spot right by the beach. We had a funnel cake and milkshake.

It would be great if they offered smaller portions.

This was by far the best ice cream place I’ve went to. The price was just great for the quality and quantity we got. There are lots of flavours to choose from.

Came in and ordered two soft serve ice creams, waited in line forever, they started serving people who were behind us, and then announced to everyone behind us that soft serve isn't working, didn't tell the people who were standing there waiting who had already ordered. Menu choice is terrible, and it's just a bunch of teenagers who are working their first job and have no idea what they're doing.

Ordered soft serve espresso/coffee icecream and the gentlemen took vanilla and mixed it with some flavour. Tasted like super sweet vanilla ice cream and not a hint of coffee or espresso. On-top of the horrible tasting ice cream they charge extra for soft serve ice cream.

My wife ordered a moose track and instead gave her something tasting like ribbon candy ice cream. My 4 year old got chocolate and that tasted like peanut butter rather than chocolate.

All 3 ice creams were so bad tasting and super sweet that we ended up throwing them away. And no outdoor garbage bin either.

Worst ice cream we have had in a long time. Skip this place and go to Mr Puffs or Baskin robins which is much better.

Outdoor seating was nice though.

The chicken strips were extremely well cooked, my compliments to the chef, I heard his summer job is locked in for life. I’m a big fan of the favourites board, looks like some serious hard work and dedication was put into that exquisite masterpiece. If you’re looking to stop by here, DO IT. You will not regret a thing. The staff are all wonderful and caring individuals and will make you feel welcome in their home. I cannot express enough how much Harbour Light Delights means to me and the Cobourg community. A reminder: if you’re going to leave a rude review, make sure we use our words before resorting to the internet. Thank you for making harbs home ❤️

Well...it had to happen. Tonight was our worst food experience since we moved to Cobourg almost 3 years ago. And it wasn't even close.

We have eaten at this popular lakeside takeout before. The food was always adequate, if a little overpriced. But tonight took poor value to a whole new level. We ordered a chicken fingers with medium fries and a cheeseburger plus a drink and it came to $31.50 Prices have seemingly gone up by 40% since last year.

What we were served: 3 chicken fingers and so few fries that any small sized order anywhere would have had way more fries than in the medium we were given here. When I mentioned it to the server he said that was the correct portion. Strike 1

We went to eat. The fries were a salt bomb and almost inedible. Strike 2. The burger was basic and tasteless. And then my 7 year old took a look at the third chicken finger, said it looked funny so we split it open to reveal undercooked meat with congealing fat inside. Strike 3

We returned with the undercooked chicken finger and most of the oversalted fries. The server took one look and said "eww! That's disgusting!" and quickly refunded the money paid for the chicken and fries ($15.50). He was obviously rattled and possibly worried about his summer job security.

I have pics but haven't figured out how to post them yet. But if the owners care to contact me I will show them the evidence.

Our family visits Cobourg every summer and always drop by this place. We appreciate that they use a local dairy, Reid’s Dairy, and the young staff are friendly and attentive. It can get quite busy on weekends so give yourself some time to order.

This place is so cute and amazing! It has the ice cream, and next door is the hot food as well. All made a la carte, the highlights other than the ice cream I would say is the poutine, nachos and cheese, mozzarella sticks and jumbo hot dog. Right down by the marina and massive beach

I had a funnel cake with soft serve and strawberries. I found the sauce to be fake-flavoured and weirdly gelatinous. It was a fresh/warm funnel cake though. Soft serve tasted good. But the sauce killed it for me. I also tried my friend’s st jacob’s apple pie ice cream—it was good!
