If you like great schnitzel this is the place to have it. They offer a couple of dozen different varieties that brought back memories of the swiss alps. The black-forest cake was fresh, delicious and probably the best we have tasted. This was our only in-restaurant dining experience since the start of the pandemic and we felt safe. After the lock down we plan to return for our anniversary.

Worth the drive to Cobourg.A family run well established restaurant ~ I sure know why it has been around for so so many years (?decades?).Everything homemade, traditional and delicious.Likely making reservations is advised especially if you are planning to make the drive from GTA or outside of Cobourg or Port Hope.

Friendly service but the food not even close to german food and I know because I'm German and I'm a very good cook.The price and what you get on your plate 2 diffrend things,also very dark in there could not read the menu whitout using my flashlight.All in all we will not eat there again.Very Disappointed 87$ for 2 people way overpriced.

I come to this marvelous place from time to time because I love the special atmosphere that is characterizes this restaurant. The team is very friendly and experienced. The service is awfully quick. Most important, the food they serve is exceptionaly good. I have been there often and I was never disappointed. The cost is decent. I highly recommend this place to my friends and family.

Had a wonderful family celebration dinner here this evening. The service was excellent and the food was exceptional. Our son has the bacon wrapped sausage stuffed chicken, my hubby and I had the veal schnitzel and our other family member had the house sausage special. We also enjoyed appetizers and desserts. I highly recommend the Matterhorn.

The Matterhorn makes a remarkable variety of authentic schnitzels in veal, chicken, pork or eggplant versions. And there are also many Swiss-German and Hungarian specialities like goulash that would meet the needs of anyone wanting to explore this somewhat overlooked cuisine in North America. In addition, there are German and other European beers, and wines, including the notable Hungarian bull’s blood and a reisling we tried at the helpful and friendly owner’s suggestion, called Funf 5. We liked it so much we ordered some after the meal. We started with home made onion soup, very tasty, lots of cheese, a real classic. I had the veal farmer’s schnitzel and my partner ordered the mushroom version. The dishes are available either plain or premium with toppings as we had. In addition, there was one apple strudel left which we had to have despite being kind of full. The atmosphere is very middle European, lots of wall posters including of course of the Matterhorn itself. Prices are very fair and they go the extra step to make customers happy. A good place for a good warm meal of comfort food and dishes not encountered many places any more.
