Island Mix Restaurant & Lounge

I've been coming here since 2010, opening. Today we walked in, sat down and waited. We already knew what we wanted but the lady that brought our menus said to wait for the waitress. We were waiting and another family came in. We were there for at least 20 minutes, which is fine considering there waa only 1 waitress. I got up and left because instead of coming over to us, she went over to the family that just got there to serve them. We were completely ignored. I will never come back because this place has lost their level of customer service.

Post lunch with my golf buddies! Pepper shrimp and fried wontons were delicious! Shared some main dishes family style. Overall good experience would go back.Only downfall is they ran out of there house special Hot Sauce!

2nd time I've been here and the food is always fresh. The staff is always lovely and the live entertainment is really good. I recommend for a nice evening out that kinda takes you away.

No communication between kitchen and staff. I ordered for pick up. Oxtail with rice, curry goat and corn soup. Told me it would take about 20min to be ready, came to pick up my food, ended waiting another 20min just to find out that they didn't have my goat. Got refund for goat. Then went home and realized they missed my soup. Place is a mess and not clean at all. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

We all LOVED the vibe, food and staff here!! The friendly staff helped us choose food and everyone was more than satisfied! Angali helped our party of 15 and definitely enhanced our experience!!! We can’t wait to go back!

Great restaurant. Consistency is the key. Every dish Taste authentic., just like mom made it. I go out of my way to eat here. Clean well run. Has a great upscale. Caribbean vibe.

Another great example of a once upon a time good restaurant lacking on their quality. Ordered garlic chicken dish which comes with white rice. Eating the white rice felt like we were chewing it raw. We didn't end up eating all the rice so we had some left over. The next day even after warming it up they felt even more harder. Almost as if they were uncooked. I felt I needed to soak them in water. White rice is the easiest thing to cook, so either the restaurant has gotten a very cheap rice supplier or someone just doesn't know how to cook white rice. I have been eating at island mix for years, from the days they started in Pickering. I definitely see the lack of attention to their food quality, not just from this dish but from many others. From the price point of what you're paying definitely not worth my money

Food was good. Went here for lunch . Had the pepper shrimp , wings and mixed fried rice.Only gripe I have is that one server was working the bar and dining and service was a bit slower then expected. Almost 2 hours for lunch but to be fair they were busy.

Delicious west Indian style food conveniently located in Vaughan mills plaza. I went for dinner with my two daughters and family, we spent 1 Hr 1/2, to 2 hrs, everyone enjoyed it. The music was excellent in my opinion, and for a family of 9 it was spacious and accommodating with great service and food!

Vegetarian options: Menu has lots of options

Kid-friendliness: Kid friendly, colouring options, nice size, good food. Conveniently located.

Parking: Near Vaughan mills, so huge parking lot.

Absolutely delicious food enjoyed at a friend's milestone birthday dinner. We will be back! Thank you.

I've been here a few times and always enjoy my experience here. I went on a Sunday and it was very busy. There were 2 servers on duty and they didn't seem very organized when I got there. I waited about 10 mins to get served. I put in my order and the server came back and told me my order would take 45 mins before it came out. I was going to cancel my order and leave because I was Hangry. The nice young lady that served me gave me another faster option. I ended up ordering the curry goat with Paratha. It was delish! I was not disappointed. The rum punch that accompanied my food was great too. ?

Just love this place. Been coming for years and the food is always flavourful and service is on point... you will have to wait a bit to get the food but its fresh and delicious!

Excellent enclosed and heated patio and great drinks!I came here with a girlfriend and we had a great time on the heated patio in late November. They have a gas table top fireplace and the cocktails and appetizers were terrific. Great selection of vegetarian items with tofu and seafood dishes prepared in Caribbean or Chinese recipes. Fun, friendly vibe and very friendly and attentive staff. Great to have this nice independent bar in the neighborhood in Vaughan which is usually a sea of chain restaurants. Will definitely return!

Vegetarian options: Great veggie options. Try the black bean tofu. They also substitute rice for vegetables.

Parking: Easy parking although the plaza does get busy

food is amazing. we order once a week from Island Mix Vaughan. the chicken fried rice is the best dish. consistent flavor and prep times. try to order in advance as it usually helps with the wait time. thank you

My friend and I needed a place to kill time while my daughter was at wonderland. We heard some music and decided to go inside. Never have I met a friendlier staff and management. It was too late to order dinner and I don’t drink but the server insisted that we stay, enjoy the music, watch the basketball game and even brought us water. The manager even checked in with us with so much love. Most wholesome experience ever! We are going back now to have dinner! ❤️
