I was very disappointed, the service was awful! It felt like there was a prejudice against us for some reason (I’m heavily tattooed?). I took my wife out for date night, we have been here several times and love the experience every time. Our server tonight was Shelley, we were greeted and seated right away. We were offered a drink just a few minutes after we were at our table. We then sat for 55 mins waiting for our food(this is to be expected); during that time both waitresses walked past us several times, we watched every other table being checked in on on several times, offered extra drinks while waiting for their dinner etc, with our table being ignored until our dinner came. Dinner was, as always 10/10, service was sadly (and for the first time ever a 0/10) We will be back for the amazing food but only if this waitress isn’t working.

Guys, come on !!! I drove from the other city. It’s better to add proper hours ! It’s 3 pm and the restaurant is closed. Google maps says 12-21 pm.
Disappointed ☹️

All tables were reserved. Nicely decorated and good atmosphere however there were two loud groups (one of 4 and one of 6) that made it hard for us to hear each other. We were seated at a table by the window but with two vents blowing the AC directly next to us it was cold. At one point my hair was even blowing around. Service was excellent

Food was very good. Service was excellent. Small restaurant and unfortunately there were two loud groups which made it difficult for us to have a conversation. AC was blowing from two vents next to our table do made it uncomfortably cold.

What an amazing find. A small yet cozy restaurant with an extensive high class menu. We do not live in Cornwall, but with only a 45 min drive and parking right in front on the street, we will absolutely be back!

The atmosphere is always welcoming and the food and service outstanding. One of my favourite places to enjoy a meal.

Just an Opinion

The menu is limited but almost everything we tried was excellent. The oysters and brie wheel were a lovely way to start, along with a pitcher of sangria. The branzino was tender and on its own bland, but eaten with the sauces on the side was delicious. The Chicken Supreme was also very good, though the risotto that came with it was a little too al dente. The service was great with the exception of our waitress forgetting to bring our wine, even after double checking with us that we still wanted it. Also, they appear to be anxious about getting you out of the restaurant as minutes after being seated we were told we had to be out in an hour and a half. I am not a fan of production line service. The ambiance leaves a much to be desired. It's a small place and very noisy as dishes, pots and pans can be heard clanging in the background while patrons and wait staff speak louder and louder in order to compete with the sound coming out of the kitchen. If you're looking for romance, this may not be the place for you but if you don't mind the noise, a very good restaurant overall.

First visit today and I can see why people rave about it. The staff made me feel welcome right away, and the menu had a nice variety without being overwhelming. I tried their house special and it was both flavorful and filling. The atmosphere felt comfortable, not rushed. Will be back

My wife and I have been going to Birchwood since they were a cafe on Pitt St. I wouldn't call us regulars but we try to go a couple times a year and we've always enjoyed our experience.

Recently, I made a reservation to celebrate a major work achievement for my wife. A few days later, the restaurant called to inform me a large group had booked the entire restaurant and that they were canceling my reservation.

I understand it's a business and they need to fill the restaurant to maximize profit, but it sure doesn't feel good to have your reservation canceled in favour of someone else.

This, unfortunately, has soured our opinion of Birchwood so, when you factor in how many other good restaurants there are in Cornwall and surrounding area, we probably won't be back.

Fav in cornwall. Went during happy hour between lunch and dinner. Minestrone, mussels, cheese & cured meat charcuterie board was fantastic. Suuuuper delicious and beautifully presented. Will def go again and again:))

Parking was a bit tricky with google maps, so I suggest not following Google, as it will take u round and round. We ended up parking at a close by retail building and walking a little.
