Went for the brunch with Santa. Got 3 cold pancakes and stale candy. No candied bacon like last year which was our reason for going back. Also wasn’t an all-you-can-eat like last year so had to wait for one person to serve cold pancakes and candy. Wasn’t worth the 87 I paid for two adults and a child. Server was really nice. My daughter enjoyed seeing Santa.

Not sure why folks are complaining about the buttermilk pancakes from the Pancakes with Sanat event? I got some brought home by my daughter who works there and they were absolutely delicious (even warmed up). Probably the best pancakes I've had. Kudos to chef for his great receipe!!!!

Pancakes with Santa!! 🎅
He's the real deal, super friendly with my nieces. Fresh pancakes, friendly staff (very helpful with a toddler covered in maple syrup), and candy galore!

Just came back from the Brunch with Santa and am at a loss for words at what a poor showing Maker Feed put on. As a longtime advocate for this establishment, I'm frankly embarrassed on their behalf at the pancake brunch they put on for families, many of whom I'm sure are long time patrons of the restaurant. Bulk barn like stale candy and the worst pancakes I've even come across were served. Servers did what they could with what they were given, and Santa did an admirable job at being merry. The food was simply cold and inedible. We went to breakfast on the way home to counteract the disappointment we were actively hiding from the kids who enjoyed seeing Santa. I get that times are tough and that places need to do what they can to diversify their income streams. But for the love of Santa, have some culinary self respect for the food you showcase to returning clients. A single money grab leaves a worse taste in the mouth then the pitiful excuse for a pancake served under the guise of brunch. The fact that you normally offer an noteworthy brunch in the Ottawa area makes this all the more disappointing. We all know you are better than this. What happened?

I didn't want this review to tank what is normally an excellent restaurant, so my rating of four stars in general stands.
However, I need to make a mention of the Santa Brunch (negative 2 stars) that I and my family just attended. Stale pancakes and Stale candy even the kids won't eat was straight up embarassing. I don't think I have attended a worse breakfast ever. I recommended this event to my friends and then needed to let them know Santa was the only good thing and they can basically skip the food. Also food tickets? (1) That is a pedestrian move for this class of restaurant before we even begin (2) Who on earth would want seconds? I could barely choke down the first plate.

We came here for the 2nd time this past weekend with our family friends. We had a much better experience this time! The one major thing to note is that if you get an online gift certificate, apparently it's a rule that you MUST print it out. Last year we came and had our gift certificates all ready by email - the server refused them on the grounds of them not being printed which is not written anywhere on the Shopify email or on the website. We offered to email them and they could print it or write down the gift certificate number and they said no. We did not want to be extremely confrontational - the server said she checked with her manager but the manager never came out to apologize or explain. We had to pay out of pocket and as much as we had enjoyed our dinner, the entire experience had been soured. We did have a really good bone marrow dish last visit.
This time, our server was very friendly and helpful. I've given an overall 3 stars to average out our 1 star from last time. It was chilly in the private room we were in and they brought us some blankets which was very kind! There was a large party downstairs so service was slow for us. We printed out our gift certificates to avoid issues this time, and they were accepted. My husband and I had the duck cassoulet and braised lamb shank, and we had split some oysters, mussels and escargot for apps. They were all tasty! Fries were nicely salted and slightly crispy. Dessert was called the Emma, kind of like a beavertail.
I would recommend Maker Feed Co. for romantic dinners or a nice celebration dinner.

Picked up the Lobster Mac & Cheese, it was delicious but the portion was quite small for the price.

Liberal use of the microwave to reheat the Beef Wellington and Braised Ribs which came out of the fridge, made some time ago. The Rack of Lamb had no ribs; it was actually a lowly shank but with the price of ribs.

Ordered 4 mains.
Beef Wellington: Perfectly crunchy crust and flavourful sauce. The whole thing is a little longer than my middle finger — more of a snack size. You decide if that's worth $45 to you.
Lamb shank: Tender but slightly bland, which is OK to me. The rice feels like it's been left out to dry for a couple hours after cooking. Waitress said they were going for a crunchy texture. Told them to just fry it with egg. This Chinese guy knows desiccated rice when he chews on it.
Duck in a pot: The pot is more of a palm-sized bowl. Continuing the snack sized mains trend. Taste itself was pretty good actually.
Risotto with beets and goat cheese: Exotic looks and satisfactory taste (to me at least; MIL finds it salty). Risotto of the day may vary.

Thoroughly enjoyable French influenced restaurant in an eclectic divided historical home. Will definitely return. Looks like a great summer venue too with multiple terraces.
