Always my go to coffee spot when in town. Excellent espresso, super helpful people and wonderful service!
Got a London Fog and a buckwheat chocolate chip cookie, both were 10/10. The place has great atmosphere and staff were very friendly and helpful in terms of offering dietary substitutions.

We had a really weird experience today. We were sitting outside and didn’t hear our takeout order right away, so the barista ended up yelling it through the window. When we went to pick it up, she slammed our order down on the counter really aggressively, right in front of our kid. It was so off-putting that my husband asked if she was okay. The other staff looked embarrassed but no one said anything. Hopefully, she was just having a rough day, but from the staff’s reactions I’m guessing that this is how things usually go. Don’t go here.

This place is going downhill for a few years now. We moved to Dundas 8 years ago, and we have seen it deteriorate in time in every possible way. Now not only that there is no service from Dundas' cafe staff (although they always expect a tip for something they do NOT do!), but the food is also TERRIBLE. A rip off. Almost $20 for a sandwich with almost NOTHING IN IT!!! Shameful!!!
Oh, I should also add that I totally agree with a previous review: 'why tolerate the cashier/server treatment (dismissive, snobby, with a “I am better than u”/“I am better than being here and serving u” attitude)'. Yes, quite snobby staff - this has always struck me when I visited Detour Cafe in Dundas.

I live quite near to this cafe. I fully support small businesses and rather buy from them rather than the Starbucks across the street. But when the treatment u get at the cafe becomes borderline unpleasant, I ask myself , why stay in a queue(line), why tolerate the cashier/server treatment (dismissive, snobby, with a “I am better than u”/“I am better than being here and serving u” attitude) when you pay the same amount across the street, don’t have to wait and you are greeted in a welcoming manner. The food matters but the experience matters more. The coffee is good so for sure worth the “take away” as long as there is no lines. I won’t give a 1 star as it is a small business and I don’t want them to suffer.

The cafe is great, probably one of the best in downtown Dundas. Local coffee shop with a large patio, plenty of seating - however, depending on the hour, it's usually packed. You want to find your seating prior to ordering, otherwise you'll be waiting around. Alternatively you can take to go.

Staff were super nice, especially the bigger tatted guy! However on this visit today I think there was a barista in training perhaps and she over-steamed the latte milk significantly.. was a little bummed as drive from a ways to come here.
The coffee 9 times out of 10 has been phenomenal.
Excellent service & coffee!! Really only tried the baked goods this visit -- strawberry cheesecake rugelach was so yummy!! ? Patio very comfortable and casual ambiance -- amazing walnut/locust tree -- like a little secluded conversation spot just off King Street.

Terrible customer service and experience last time we came here, which is a real shame. Food and drinks to go were are, but likely will not be coming back as our group was denied simple requests, such as basic seating and service while seated, which seemingly the restaurant had well over the capacity it meet, and where the reasoning as to why sounded entirely fictional. Communication and tone was also incredibly condescending and rude. We ended up ordering take out and having to stand across the street to eat our food and have our coffees.
