Cozy and friendly, the people at Rural Roots were so lovely when we came in for a pint. We enjoyed a cream ale and a porter and picked up growlers for the weekend. Food options are by Thyme. Board games and activities available to help you pass an hour or two.

If you are planning an evening visit in the summer, call ahead to reserve! There are often events or live music happening that make it a busy spot!

Rural Roots is an unpretentious gathering place with a rotating menu offering a spectrum of beer (brewed on site) and some food offerings. The main space is cosy, with locals bellying up at the bar, while the back (which has a roof but is open at the sides) is open in milder months tables, folding chairs, and a stage for live music. My kids enjoyed the board and card games on offer, as well as the food, and I enjoyed a few pints (the Plotting and Planning was fantastic).

The beer was good, but the overall experience was disappointing.

Our bill was over $100, and guests are asked to pay and tip before receiving any service. After already paying a 20% tip, we waited over an hour for a simple order of wings, which felt unreasonable.

The pub also appeared to be severely understaffed, with very few employees handling the entire place. While I enjoyed the beer, the service and wait times did not match the prices being charged.

Unfortunately, I don't plan on returning.

Great vibes all around! The food is just okay, but nobody is coming here for the food. A welcoming place for the whole family, lots of fun to be had, and the drinks are good & reasonably priced.

This place packs house for events so be sure to book a reservation. Sometimes feels understaffed for how busy they get, but they're pretty efficient most of the time. Dog friendly, but I wouldn't bring a big dog in during busy nights.

Like any place, it has its drawbacks, but still my favorite place.

Arrived around 3:30pm on a Saturday afternoon and there wasn't a seat to be had. 1 lonely server, but she was efficient and friendly. Tasty beer

Had an amazing experience here! I would highly recommend this place; vibe, taste, service, is fabulous!

Food took time to be served however they did inform priorly about the delay. They had Bingo night. Amazing people, fun place. Didn't mind the late food arrival because we were enjoying beers! 🍺

Stopped in on a rare trip to Elmira, glad I did.
Majority of the samples were excellent (Porter,Stout,Red ale...and others).
Manager, I believe her name is Tanja was excellent with service and knowledge. She went to extra effort just so I could try their Stout.
Will definately return next time I am in the area!

Had such a fun experience here! Sat on the covered patio because it was a sunny day (but cold!) Our server Tanja was so friendly and helpful. Ordered a flight and loved all the beers. Food was very good too. And thanks for the birthday shot 😃 We will definitely be back!!

Amazing service, server was very knowledgeable with the products, gave great recommendations and very friendly. Love the idea of coming in and having a quick drink or sitting awhile and having some delicious food. Didn't go during one of their evening events but will definitely be coming back to indulge. Highly recommend trying this place!
