I have mixed reviews of this place. The sandwiches were ok but the scones and desserts were really good. Service was ok and the experience was decent value for money. Only issue is their reservation system, asks you to either book for high tea or the food menu. I should have called in to clarify, and that is on me. But I booked a table for high tea for 3 including my child and when we got there, we were hoping to do an item from the lunch menu for our child and they refused, and said we had to pay for her high tea since we booked for it. This was a waste for our child and we ended up getting most of her food to go. I thought that was quite poor on their part for the experience. Not sure I would head back there again.

What a lovely way to end our girls day in Erin. Recommend making a reservation, as it gets busy. The food and ambience were lovely. I loved my Lady Lavender tea. The owner was so sweet and welcoming. It's a must visit if you're in Erin, Ontario.

We could not be happier with this restaurant. My daughter and I have been driving from Barrie to Mattie Hatters at least five times a year for the last few years. It is our favorite place to go for lunch. The food is incredible! The service is gracious and excellent. We have never once been disappointed. We haven’t been here for high tea yet. We absolutely love their lunch menu.

My daughter took me there to celebrate my bday. We were immediately shown our table and within minutes our service started with tea of choice …and hot. Next came the tray of delicious sandwiches and sweets. Food. Service atmosphere all excellent need to go back for a replay!

Lovely place for afternoon tea, or pop in to order off their lunch menu. Charming décor, warm ambiance, welcoming staff. They boast a wide selection of loose leaf teas, and really you can't go wrong no matter your choice. The afternoon tea is served with a tall assortment of pastries, breads, scones, more, and it's delicious! It's also seriously deceiving as it looks like a light snack, and yet it's just enough to leave you pleasantly full. Not in any way to detract from the rating, it's a solid 5 stars, I do so wish they'd open an e-commerce site so we could order the teas to get shipped. In the absence thereof, we'll just have to keep on making the trek to beautiful Erin, Ontario to take in some afternoon tea and leave with a carload of teas to bring home and give to friends/family.

Cute little tea shop and Cafe in downtown Erin. They have the mad hatter theme which works well to brighten up the cafe. I love that they serve soup in teacups and boy was the food delicious! Plenty of on-street parking and you may want to make a reservation as the number of tables is limited. Also, if you're looking for a treat they have afternoon tea which is very well priced. And I almost forgot to mention the selection for teas is amazing. You won't be disappointed

In the cute little town of Erin I am so glad I found this beautiful little place From the moment we walked in, Maddie Hatter’s transported us into a whimsical wonderland. The décor is straight out of a storybook—charming, cozy, and full of character. The attention to detail was magical, and every corner felt like it had a story to tell.
The high tea itself was absolutely delightful. Each tier was beautifully presented and thoughtfully prepared. The scones were warm and buttery, the finger sandwiches fresh and flavorful, and the selection of sweets was a dream for any dessert lover. And let’s not forget the tea—fragrant, rich, and served in the most adorable teacups.
What truly made the experience special was the warmth and hospitality of the staff. Friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about what they do, they made us feel right at home.
Whether you’re celebrating something special or just want to treat yourself to something magical, I can’t recommend Maddie Hatter’s enough. It was an experience full of joy, laughter, and delicious memories. We’ll definitely be back! 💕🎩🍰
