We booked the private room at Maddie Hatter for my mother’s 80th birthday high tea party. We were not disappointed! The high tea service was exceptional. The sandwiches, scones and pastries were very tasty and it was excellent value for money. The space was decorated beautifully …and we even had our own private little bathroom.
The staff were extremely helpful and accommodating. Would highly recommend this tea shop!!

An FYI - their scones are made with almond flour, so please be aware if you have nut allergies (but the staff were very sweet and brought an extra croissant instead!😊)

Small but quaint tea shop in Erin. You need to reserve your time for their High Tea Service. It is by far the best priced we’ve come across for the taste, quantity, and quality of food you get. We were comfortably full.

There are not a lot of tables but they are able to seat larger groups (around 6 to 8). Although they have a regular menu, their High Tea Service is very popular, don’t be disappointed and book ahead.

The sandwiches are delightful, as are the scones! The slices of cheese are a nice touch. The Christmas Cake was great as were the other desserts. The sandwiches and biscuits were definitely our favourites.

There is a large selection of teas to choose from.

We had a reservation for the High-Tea today and were very happy with our experience. The food was amazing, and the scones were served fresh and warm. We were full after our meal and everything was great. The sandwiches and desserts were great. The teas were nice and hot and the milk was served in a mini pitcher. Looking forward to our next trip back.

Visited the other day and had a great time. I got their high tea and it was amazing. Delicious sandwiches, scones and mini deserts. The inside of the store is very nicely decorated. Will definitely visit again!

Girl who answers the phones needs an attitude adjustment. Useless customer service. Too bad, this place used to be really nice. Will maybe try going back once this “lady” is gone.

Nice tea but they most certainly make you feel unwelcome and an inconvenience if you drop-in anytime in the morning, in mid-afternoon or anytime there are just two of you. They display a “shop local sign” but they sure don’t mean it. Don’t bother going unless you are a large group and you make reservations.
Tim Hortons down the road will welcome you.

Me and my wife attended in September 2024! Great atmosphere! We had reservations for 11:30, and showed up a bit early but weee seated right away! The food was incredible! Especially the scones! We had the High Tea for 2! Would recommend and we definitely will be back!

Food ok, service not so much. The store is cute and could be something quite spectacular with a little care and training.

What an adorable shoppe! We drove up from Hamilton to enjoy the atmosphere. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. Worth the drive!

Our group of six celebrated a birthday with high tea. Most of us have had high tea elsewhere (King Eddie etc), and we agreed that the desserts and small sandwiches at Maddie Hatters were better! The ambiance and decor were eclectic and fun…a real find!

It was lovely here. Such a lot to look at. I had chicken pot pie. It was pretty good. I also loved the berry tea they served me. Enjoyed myself very much. Thank you ladies.

We had a wonderful high tea experience at Maddie Hatter! I am very impressed with the value for the experience, $35/pp is exceptional, we were plenty full before even getting to the desserts! We were lucky enough to be there for the first day of their fall menu. The sandwiches, scones, and pastries were all amazing! For tea, we had a pot of chai with milk and earl grey cream, which were both absolutely lovely! I’m already looking forward to my next trip to Maddie Hatter :)

Incredible You

If I could give this place more than 5 stars for food, I would. We were in Erin for the day and had many locals recommend this cute little tea shop. Mom had the cauliflower soup and I had French onion. We share a pot of peppermint tea. Everything was amazing. So full of flavour. I will make a point to return to Erin just to go to this shop again.

While I am sure that the tea experience itself is delightful, we had a very negative experience trying to book an afternoon tea for our daughter's birthday. When we called. we advised that we are vegetarian. An employee in the background said, "I'm so sick of this, we don't do substitutions!" Overall, booking our appointment was not pleasant. We have cancelled, and we will go somewhere where we are treated with a bit more respect. It's our money, and we would rather spend it at a more professional space. The owners should consider addressing this. But then again, they probably won't read this review and may not care.
