Aster's Refined Cakes

Aster's unique offerings make it special and "eSpecially" this Christmas. We took a box of Christmas desserts to a dinner party and they were the highlight of the meal. Their cakes are also great. Its my go-to place for cakes for all occasions.

Here's my experience.
Service- My order on NYE became a huge issue at the pickup. The online confirmation indicated that my pick-up time was 5 to 7 pm. I arrived 5:50 which was much earlier than the cut-off. The store was closed. Luckily, I caught a person coming out of the backdoor. The person wasn't clearly in charge of this place, but explained that it is closed at 5pm today. She wanted to leave me high and dry because of her taxi arriving. She didn't want to help me initially. Basically, asking me to come back "tomorrow".
I really needed to push this person to connect anybody or check the fridge at least as I fully paid for the order. I didn't feel right to give it up.

In the end, it looked like the person connected with someone, and she found the order for me. Phew!

I really hope this didn't happen. This was my first time trying their cakes, and had no ideas of their operation. I appreciate that the person just didn't ignore me, but how it handled initially was poorly and very disappointing. Hope this could be looked into and prevent this from happening again.

-Food The cakes were delicate, beautiful and tasted amazing. I ordered the 6 holiday cakes in a box. I'm very particular about sweets. Each one has unique textures and tastes with different layers. My daughter who is 4 years old and doesn't finish any regular cakes ate up the chocolate one. Everyone of people enjoyed them. This made the night special. I will definitely come back for the cakes.

Overall, I still give this store a positive review and give another try or two. I hope my next experience will be better.

I was visiting friends in Toronto and needed good pastry and a cake. Locals recommended Aster’s and said “EVERYONE KNOWS THEM”. And once i shopped there - i knew why! Walking in i felt like a kid in a toy store - i wanted to try EVERYTHING! every macaroon, pastry, cookie or a cake looked finger licking delicious! I HAD to buy everything! Brought back to US a box of macaroons. Brought a nice mango/passion fruit (with secret chocolate layer) cake for my friend and enjoyed a piece of it and finally mango pastries for my other friend’s daughter who loves them. I could not resist and tried it and loved it!!!
Brought some lolipops for my son who collects them!
You can get take out and enjoy it with a cup if excellent expresso right there! Staff was kind and friendly! I signed up for their mail list and received a 10% discount!
Ask them about their packages and specials!
Place is a must visit!!
That one rare occasion when things taste even better than they look!!!

Dietary restrictions: Not your gluten free place but everything is LOW SUGAR

Parking: While you may not be able to park right in front of the store - you will likely find a spot within a minute walk

Kid-friendliness: Kids will love it there and they even have a little kids corner with few toys

You can tell they use high-quality products only. The cake’s design was beautiful too!

If you want something SUCH, then don’t look for it across the seven seas! Look around your area, on your street, and you will definitely come across something suitable: be it a dental office or an Indian restaurant!
I was recently given new sneakers and I decided to take them for a walk. I only had an appointment with the dentist for the day after tomorrow, and the pool is no longer open in November, so I just walked along the street from the shops, cafes and pharmacies.
Not all establishments have recovered from COVID and some still look like ships after a storm. I’m walking, and “on the starboard side” Aster’s looks very elegant! I later found out that they have been working for three years, and look very attractive both outside and inside! Everything is discreet, concise and clean!
As always, I ordered a cappuccino. I have no comments, very decent quality. The range of pastries and cakes is significant, so I’m sure everyone will find something they like. "Word of mouth" reports that a large share of the products are made to order cakes! And they are quite tasty'!! How many times do you need to order to try everything!!??
In order not to give unnecessary advice, I’ll ask: don’t Aster’s produce small “Assorted Cakes” (so that each segment of different cakes is small in size) to quickly broaden one’s horizons and lighten the load on the “body”??? Or perhaps there are tasting sessions on some days???
Yes, the service is friendly, and the interior is original: tables, a mirror and even a Christmas tree! But the bar counter by the window must be attached to the wall or floor (it wobbles).
I'll definitely be stopping by! The temptation to try everything is very great!!!

Bought 4 mini mouse cakes and it was a huge hit for my family. My in-laws couldn’t stop complementing the mango mousse cakes as they were eating. It was perfectly sweet, unique since it looked like a real mango, and the coconut crumble in the centre was the perfect texture to complement the mousse! I will be back to see what new fruit mousse cakes are offered! 😍

Aster's pastry are the best I tryied so far. I am very selective what I eat, and those deserts are not just a sweets, they are more like experience. This place is my favorite at the moment, highly recommend for everyone, even those who stays away from sugar lol

Lovely modern cake boutique with novel cakes and cookies. Individual cakes are $11-12 and whole cakes that serve 6/8 are over $60. But they're pretty and unique

I recently tried the pastries at Aster's, and they were absolutely incredible. The flavors were out of this world, and each bite was a total treat. The staff was friendly, and the service was top-notch.
