The place is very nice, I really liked the food, but the gentleman who works there or is the owner who also serves as a waiter is a very rude person. I asked him if he speaks Spanish and in a very rude way, he replied of course this is a Spanish restaurant. What did you expect? He knew it was a Spanish restaurant, but you can't assume that the people there speak Spanish because we live in an English-speaking country. Many things can happen. He could be Spanish or he could be a Canadian married to a Spanish woman. After answering me rudely, he asked me where you are from, to which I told him from Mexico and he asked me where that is. I have never heard of that place. In my opinion, I consider that the comment was very racist and he decided to ignore this person and just order. After finishing dinner, I thanked him and asked him about the cook because the dinner was delicious. He told me that she is his wife and I asked him if she is from Spain too and he replied no, she is from Portugal and I am from Paraguay and I thought, really, he told me that racist comment, he didn't know where Mexico was, being Latino, I only regret that he is the owner Because with him there I don't want to go through an experience like that again even though I really liked the food.

Everyone was happy with their meal choices... price is a bit steep, but the restaurant team is golden!

Casa de Barcelona was such a great experience! The Paella Tradicional was absolutely amazing—full of flavor and perfectly cooked. The crème brûlée was top tier, the perfect sweet ending to the meal. The place itself is super clean and welcoming. Definitely recommend

I visited this restaurant over a year ago and hesitated to leave a review—partly because the experience was so unpleasant, I wasn’t sure where to begin. However, after reading several recent reviews that echo my own, I feel compelled to share.
Let’s start with the food: it was deeply disappointing. Bland, lacking authenticity, and nowhere near representative of the Spanish cuisine it claims to serve. The owner is neither from Barcelona nor Spain, and it shows.
But the food wasn't even the worst part.
The owner—who also acts as the server—was shockingly unprofessional and, quite frankly, offensive. What began as what seemed like friendly small talk quickly escalated into an unprompted political rant laced with racist undertones. My partner and I sat in disbelief as he carried on, ignoring every cue that we were uncomfortable. His aggressive demeanor and total lack of self-awareness turned what was supposed to be a quiet Sunday dinner into a stressful, tense encounter.
It felt less like a dining experience and more like being cornered in someone’s living room during an unsolicited monologue. We left within 30 minutes, disturbed and disheartened.
The fact that this person is the face of the restaurant is alarming. A host should never make guests feel unsafe or unwelcome—and certainly not be given a platform to spew harmful rhetoric.
Poor food is one thing. But coupling it with a hostile and discriminatory atmosphere? That’s unacceptable.
I’m shocked this business is still operating and wouldn’t be surprised if its days are numbered. You can sometimes survive bad food or bad service, but not both. This place has neither redeeming quality.

We chose this restaurant for a celebratory meal on a Sunday evening during the usual dinner hour.
Food is mediocre at best, the house paella less so as the shellfish did not taste fresh and rice was over-cooked. Service was quick but being the only guests, no reason for delays.
Owner installed himself table-side the duration of our visit. He could not or would not take subtle hints we neither needed nor wanted his company during our meal. What started as his greeting and taking our beverage order, escalated to an unprovoked political diatribe (by him); his strong opinions about people who choose takeout/delivery over in-person dining and their food and establishment choices; and he was blunt to the point of rudeness about diners who opted for alcohol-free meals (like we did). In case our discomfort was not evident, his rant about how expensive it was for him to keep the restaurant open left us shocked and speechless. We quickly ate what was left of our meal in silence, smiling and nodding at anything else he had to say.
Given the exorbitant cost of our meal vs quality of food, underwhelming ambiance and disappointing experience, there is nothing that would entice us to return.

Worst place. The steak was like the bottom of my shoe. I had to write down on a piece of paper what we were ordering. When I was leaving I told the old man how terrible it was and he came at me like a raging bull.

As authentic as I would imagine authentic gets. First time at a Spanish restaurant, visiting for summerlicious, absolutely satisfied. The steak was well seasoned, and my wife paella was filled with a generous portion of seafood. Recommend indeed!
Problem is that the owner who walks around the restaurant is quite unpleasant and certainly doesn’t believe that the customer is always right.
We like to eat leisurely and have a relaxing dinner but we were rushed. A definite no no in my book.

I had high expectations for this place since it's been open for many years, but unfortunately, it didn't live up to expectations. The menu is too long and took us a long time to choose. We ordered the house paella, and it was watery and full of onions. The calamari tasted like it had been reheated in the microwave (it was the owner's recommendation). The prices are very high for the poor quality of the food served here.
If you’ve ever experienced authentic Spanish cuisine, you’ll likely be very disappointed here. The food tastes more like something microwaved from supermarket than anything freshly prepared, at very overpriced for what you get in return.
I seriously feel for the owner and hate doing this because it seems like he is trying hard to keep the restaurant afloat, but honestly, this feels like one of those places that desperately needs a visit from Chef Gordon Ramsay to deliver a serious reality check to the hard headed owner who doesn’t want to listen and do everything himself.
And the sangria? Don’t even get me started. Charging $60 for a watered down pitcher that tastes more like juice than wine is just unacceptable and a robbery.
Worst Spanish restaurant ever!! Huge lack of respect towards Spanish food. Price is high, nothing is fresh, nothing tastes like Spanish food at all.
Great Paella
We’ve been coming here 20+ years. We especially love the croquettes, the garlic shrimp, scallops in saffron sauce and the sangria. The creme brûlée is wicked good.
