I visited this location last night for some shopping. I wasn’t aware that the store closed at 7:00 p.m., so to be sure, I asked one of the cashiers about the closing time. They confirmed it was 7:00 p.m., and since it was only 6:40 p.m., I continued shopping for a few items.
When I went to check out, the cashiers had already begun counting their tills about 15 minutes before closing. I understand that it’s the end of the day and staff are preparing to leave, but when I mentioned that I wanted to pay with cash, I was told they were only accepting card payments. I explained that I could only pay in cash, and I know that cash payments are normally accepted. At that point, one of the employees changed her tone, began speaking in another language quite aggressively, and then walked away.
While I understand the challenges of closing time, the experience felt unprofessional and unwelcoming. I would not recommend visiting this location near closing time, as the staff’s attitude was dismissive and not customer-friendly.
Oh my goodness this store used be good with reasonably priced cuts of meat and Turkish/ Mediterranean food products but the quality has come down drastically and the prices gone up. Everything packaged by them is stale and old. Buyer beware. Look at the other Google reviews and you can see other people with the same sentiment. We recently bought meat from them and beware the marinated meat is old, when we opened the package we could smell it. The ground beef was also almost all fat, maybe 80/20. This was once our regular shop for fresh meats but we will no longer return. They also sell their own products for the same price as you find in other supermarkets, the salami went up from $3.99 to $5.99 and it’s $5.99 elsewhere. Really sad to see their quality has come down and prices risen.
I Don’t recommend any beef product from here. Look at adana. Full of fat which didn’t look like this while uncooked.
I bought two products from here, and unfortunately, both of them are expired. I recommend checking the dates before purchasing.
Excellent halal meat shop. Love the tomahawk steak
Chiken and ground meet it’s very bad quality it’s was better before..
We've switched to buying all our non pork proteins from Solmaz. Once a month or so I head in, grab all we need, and freeze things. WAY cheaper than Costco and the quality can't even compare.
My adult son is autistic and food is his special interest ( not surprising as I'm a quote unquote foodie ). For the first time today I took him in with me for a quick shop. Not only are these people purveyors of fabulous food, but they're also just great people! My son is 31, a big guy, we walked in, him holding his Spiderman balloon, and it was the usual smiles all around. And the usual amazing service, and the usual amazing food!
My son picked chicken ( and was THRILLED) we picked a porterhouse, and can I say OH EMMM GEEE
Solmaz, you never disappoint!

It's a great local butcher shop with fresh meats and friendly staff. The process are very reasonable and they have some unique European meats and sausages that we love. Highly recommended!

Mr Alihan and butcher was really great person thank you
I am extremely disappointed with my recent purchase from [Solmaz Foods Retail]. I bought a cake on [2025-08=03], and when my wife (who is pregnant) ate it in the car, we discovered it was covered in mold. This is completely unacceptable and a serious food safety risk.
Selling expired or moldy products shows a lack of care for your customers’ health. We trust grocery stores to provide safe, fresh food — especially for vulnerable people like pregnant women. I expected much higher standards from your business.
I hope this issue is taken seriously to ensure it does not happen to other customers.
I’ve been a Solmaz customer for years now. I used to buy their sausages and deli meats years ago before they were found in supermarkets and costcos around the GTA. I have to say, I feel like their quality has declined over the years since they have gone mainstream. Most recently I bought their debreziner sausage and it is not what I remember. The texture was gross, much grittier than I remember. Similarly their sandwich meats have also gone down in quality, we couldn’t finish the turkey we got from the Costco business centre. Either I am getting pickier or they have changed their ingredients or process over the years and not for the better.
I recently stopped by to buy some pastries, but when I tried the pastries, they were hard. Also, when I asked a middle-aged female staff member who was stocking the shelves where the çiğ köfte was, she pointed me to the wrong place. When I told her I couldn’t find it again, she gave me a rude response like “If you look on the shelves, you’ll see it,” and showed me a completely incorrect spot. I believe an employee should not behave so rudely.
I’ve always come to this location because of their fresh and delicious meat. However, one time my husband brought home chicken and the smell was horrific! I have never smelt spoilt chicken before but immediately knew it was spoilt and threw it away. I decided it was a one off as i’ve never had problems with this establishment but I purchased chicken from them again and I was skeptical. Needless to say, the chicken had a slight off smell that I couldn’t ignore. It’s a shame but won’t be buying meat from this place again. I’m not sure if something is wrong with the fridge chiller but they need to ensure they’re inspecting their meat carefully.. People can seriously get sick from lack of meat care.
