Restaurant was very slow at sitting us then they forgot us we tried twice to get there attention to no avail. We were getting up to leave when someone finally took some initiative. Portions were large once served. After this we were ignored again so we decided to not order deserts and left. There were three tables and four staff fairly dismal effort.

Been going for years but it has really dropped off recently. Most food is not even made in house which is disappointing. The food is not as good as it used to be and the service staff always seem to be distracted even when no one is in the restaurant.

The burgers were insanely big and tasty, downside was the ambiance was really sport bar with tvs on every corner of the pub but it seems fitting with the clientele

Solid food and attentive service, especially Taf, who brightens the place with her smile. The pub is getting old, but it keeps on being a solid place.

clearly, the pub's dedication to quality and innovation is evident in every detail; the crisp draft and creative menu items provided a delightful evening even if not every moment was flawless.

Stopped by for a pint of Guinness on a Saturday, the pour was disappointing, for a bar that’s covered head to toe in Guinness branding they served up a disappointing pint, The head took up a quarter of the glass. 3 different bar tenders all poured them horrendously. The saving grace was the price I haven’t found a cheaper pint anywhere else.

truly, the quality of the draft and the creative culinary twists offered here make for an unforgettable experience, where every detail is designed to evoke warmth, comfort, and quiet delight.

Probably fine for drinks but wouldn't recommend brunch. Coffee was dreadful, like they had used vinegar to clean their machine but hadn't cleaned it out properly. Ordered bacon and eggs. Eggs and hash browns were fine. I think they used unsalted bacon which came with a tremendous amount of grease. Toast was burned. Don't think I ate half of the meal. I've been here a number if times in the past and the food was always good (especially the fish and chips). This was my first visit back in about 5 or 6 years. Maybe just an off day.

St. James Gate (Toronto) 🇮🇪🍻
Such a cute Irish pub — I absolutely loved the cozy vibe and their patio is perfect, especially in the summer! We came on Canada Day evening just before the fireworks, and the atmosphere was amazing. Our server, Talek or Tadhg (sorry if I spelled it wrong!), was fantastic — super attentive and gave us quick service, especially with the drinks.

We ordered the wings, fish tacos, and French onion soup — everything was delicious. The beers and whiskey sour hit the spot 🤤.
Definitely planning to come back again!

St. James’s Gate on Dublin is a standout experience. Rooted in the legacy of Arthur Guinness and Irish tradition, this Toronto spot delivers both history and hospitality. I had the calamari and a double whiskey — the calamari was perfectly cooked, and the bartender was incredibly sweet and helpful with drink recommendations. The food, service, and locally sourced ingredients reflect genuine care and quality. If you want more than just a meal, St. James’s Gate offers a truly memorable experience. So good, I had to come back for an Irish coffee!

I have been to St James’s Gate many times and have enjoyed myself. This evening was not one of those times. The place was not very busy, yet the service was slow. My desert did not have the accompanying ice cream, because they had run out. They were only offering tea as the coffee machine had broken down. Very disappointing
