Salmon!!! Melon! LETTUCE!!!! This place has it all!
...plus waffles
With service as bad as this, the Starving Artist will surely die!
Which is sad, as I am small business owner from Rexdale, and I believe we should support local business.
We came here for Sunday brunch and thought it strange that it was empty at 11am on a Sunday for a brunch restaurant. Especially a restaurant near to 3 churches. Every other brunch restaurant in Etobicoke has line-ups on Sundays.
We walked in with our toddler. Hostess pointed us to a table but made NO effort to seat us nor to bring us menus. We assumed she would be along shortly. This was a bad assumption to make; 10 mins later still no sign of her. We decided to walk to the back room to fetch our own high chair. (note there are only 2 other tables, 4 customers in the restaurant at this time.)
We then had to flag her down as she tried to walk past us, 15mins into our visit to ask for menus etc. Seemed like there were only 2 menus in the entire restaurant.... Ordered Americanos and waters. Nothing was offered to our child, not even crayons etc, like most brunch restaurants.
Americanos eventually showed up, tasted blah. Still didn't receive water so we had to ask again, then we placed our order and it thankfully came a relatively good time.
Neither waitress checked on us once. Not even to ask if the food was ok. They were more preoccupied chatting behind the bar and noisily putting away pots and pans from a dishwasher. At this point there was another 3 tables all waiting for them and the 2 menus....
Overall, I enjoyed the food but I was too put off by the bad service to enjoy my visit.
I hope management takes the time to better train their wait staff. Look to, The Olive Restaurant, a South Etobicoke favourite for what a well run brunch restaurant should be.
We went to Starving Artists years ago when it was on St. Clair before covid. Was super happy to find they’re still around; just on Kipling now. Staff was very friendly and the food was awesome. I had the Sammy Benny and my wife had the breakfast benny. Coffee was great and my wife said her cappuccino was one of the best she’s tasted!
I love breakfast food and let me tell you this place was phenomenal! The waffles are perfection and the way my eggs were done ready to be served to the Gods. 11/10
Great spot! Been here twice with the family first time was Mother’s Day tried to look for a brunch place. However, everyone was booked checked on Google for ones nearby. This one came up decided to try as it was close by and it was great. Service of the staff is awesome, the food and especially the waffles are delicious. My wife wants to out all the options in the menu. We will definitely be back again and again. Cheers
Delicious food! Always passed by without trying but smelled delicious waffles. Decided to try it and it's so worth it. Will definitely be back again. We got a mini, salmon waffle sandwich, and vanilla almond latte. The server was also really nice and let us know that we can substitute bacon with avocado no extra charge. And that was really helpful. (Everything is waffles 🧇)
Nice and quiet spot for breakfast. The food was fresh. The fried chicken breading was a bit bland, though.
Decent coffe
The atmosphere is exactly what we need to see more of. All the art work on display is available for sale. The food was excellent and the service was great.
Very good place to eat something, the service is good and the food too.👍🏽

Best breakfast I've had in a long time. Portions and food worth the cost
Hey! I just came here today and got some super awesome food. I love waffles/pancakes and I like the idea of making everything have waffles. I got the bluebery waffle with ice cream which was awesome and I got a main dish I forgot the name of. The food is very tasty!
This place is really close my house. What stood out was Melissa the server/cashier there. She made a very warm welcome and was very kind! I will definitely be taking my friends and my girlfriend to try out more food here.
If you want a desert/main expect to spend around 30 dollars or a little more.
There's tons of parking in the area too so that's fine.
I like it. I do miss hashbrowns for breakfast, but just tried their potato waffle and I think that's my new favourite. The other half had the most perfectly poached egg for the waffles benny. The atmosphere is cosie and bright. The staff are very nice. Cash only, but there's an ATM inside.
Their waffles are amazing. Love the spacious free parking in this location. Love the Interior decor of this place. The young lady who served us is very courteous , knows the menu and provided good recommendation (long ponytail & could be Indian descent ). 👍👍👍 ❤️
The only two areas of improvements:
1) They do not accept credit card payment, could be a turn off for many people.
2) Inconsistent level of customer services. The cashier (male, could be Indian descent, on Sunday Jan 5, 2025) could be new to the country, and store manager should consider this is couching opportunities. His demeanor is quite pushy and dominant, not just to customers, but aslo to his colleagues.
Fun music! The food is amazing. Per my 9 year old "this place should get 10 stars. People should skip work to come here!"
