Great Sushi! Love the little budda
For the people who have an issue with the owner/chef, he’s one dude trying to manage everything during a pandemic. Perhaps you all can have a bit of empathy?
My experience here was fantastic. He didn’t come out and tell me what the fish was, where it came from, what order to eat it in, the lineage of the fish, how to eat it and what to imagine when having it or any other nonsense; he let his food do the talking and it didn’t talk - it sang.
Flavourful sweet shrimp, incredible tuna belly, and savoury surf clam, subtle yet fresh salmon, and PERFECTLY vinegared rice. I was completely shocked. How is this place in the middle of nowhere able to do it THIS well? There’s only one other place I’ve EVER been to in this city where I can say the rice was this good and it was Solo Sushi Ya, which is now in Newmarket.
Sumo Boi Sushi was never on my radar as it doesn’t have the stereotypical sushi restaurant name that so many in the city have nor is it located in a high traffic area; however, the reviews I’d read that “actually focused on the food” were incredibly glowing. Therefore, I decided to give it a try since I’ve been to many MANY sushi places in and around the city and for the price, portion, and flavour, there is NO comparison.
For those in the area, skip the overly fancy places if you just want sushi and come here before he leaves in December. Otherwise, I’m greatly looking forward to the downtown location!
Rude !
Unprofessional
The rest I will leave to your ..
Great portion, flavour AND presentation!
Sushi is amazing! Only two guys pumping out the orders, so expect to wait if you didn't call in your order in advance!
Ordered sashimi : salmon , scallop and hamachi and they were very very fresh :) better than a lot of places - sooo good.
the hand rolls are masssiveeeeeee , I got the salmon and they told me to try Japanese mayo with it and let me tell you , Those two combination is ?.
Highly recommend this place. Small hidden gem ?
Phone is out of service without any notice of sumo boi being closed. Google says open and working hours as normal when clearly that’s not the case. An update only takes a minute and would let customers know what to expect.
Amazing food - definitely recommend
At this point I’ve tried to give this place a few chances. I am not sure why the owner or staff is so rude every time. I get ‘told’ about something or the other. Seems like making sushi is a hardship for them. Not sure they enjoy it. I liked the food and have tried a few times now to hope someone was just having a bad day but 3rd time’s the charm. I don’t think dealing with consistently rude behaviour is what I am willing to pay for. I am officially not going back ?
Order canceled after i made the 20 min drive to the location. Very dissatisfied. You are closed Mondays at 4pm???

Amazing little place. Owner is super cool. The food quality is superb and the portions are huge. 1 roll is like the size of 3 in other places. You can’t compare this place to those all you and eat places. This is on a different level.
The best sushi in the gta!
I don't know why they get such great reviews. I ordered a Maki tray and it tasted like day old dog food wrapped in rice.
Sushi is simply amazing. My favourite place in Toronto and I've tried lots of places. Pricey, but so worth it!! The salmon sashimi is to die for.
