It's taken me a while to get to this but a couple of months ago I took my 2 young teenagers to this restaurant for a Saturday Brunch. I had eaten here for breakfast a few times in the past both before the "New" ownership arrived and after. I had not been disappointed in the past, however on this occasion I ordered a breakfast sandwich and although tasty, the bacon was so undercooked that as I was chewing bites off, the undercooked bacon was stretched and stringy. I had not asked that the bacon be cooked well done as I assumed it would at the very least be cooked to a medium level. My daughter also had bacon with her meal and even though she likes her bacon cooked Medium Rare, she pulled apart pieces of bacon that were far too Rare and undercooked and ate the rest of the bacon that was cooked to her liking. My 2 children ordered from the regular menu and of course being young teenagers, they ordered hot chocolates. The meals all included coffee, which I believe if ordered separate from a meal were listed as costing $3.50. The Hot Chocolate I believe was listed as costing $4.00. When I went to the cash register counter to pay I noticed that the full price of both Hot Chocolates were added to the cost of my children's meals. I mentioned to the waitress that this was not fair, as my children were not about to start drinking coffee instead of hot chocolate and that I would be fine with paying the .50 cents per Hot chocolate difference. The waitress told me the coffee's were included with the meal and there was nothing she could do about that. I paid my bill in full and even left a tip. However I stand by the fact that the waitress was wrong, as the price of the coffee is incorporated into the meal and that definitely does not make the coffee a free addition. I understand that coffee almost always includes free re-fills but hot chocolate does not. My bill ended up costing me $7.00 + tax more than it should have. There are so many good restaurants that serve breakfast, that myself, my children and my girlfriend who happens to live in Frankford, will never again be attending "The New Oasis Cafe".
