The food was the best part, everything else was not ideal. The noise level was that of a sports bar, it was difficult to have any kind of conversation and the prices for the food are definitely more on par with a nice restaurant where you could have quiet conversation. The service was extremely lacking, the poor server had far too many tables to serve them properly. It was our first visit and it will be the last, not impressed at all and that is disappointing because we were looking forward to our night out.
Service and food were excellent but we weren't expecting the noise level....but a great place if you want to bet on the horses while you eat. A bit pricey but I guess that is the norm now.
Great service, excellent food. I had the Chicken Marsala and substituted the angel hair pasta for a Cesar salad. Hubby had the lasagna. Our friends had the mussels and a pasta dish. Nothing left on any of our plates. We will definitely visit Cafe Italiano in the future.
The food was fairly good. However, they ask for a tip at the counter before you even receive the food, which is contrary to tipping etiquette and is a form of toxic tip culture.
We were looking a fun night out with a meal and to watch the horse racing. We haven't been since the pandemic when we used to enjoy the buffet. The food was excellent! Server was pleasant and attentive. We had ravioli, lasagne and the fettucine special (which was cooked to perfection!). We tried the mango sorbet, sponge cake and the cannoli. All were a nice end to the meal. And we won on one of the horses we bet on - a fun night out!
The food was amazing. You start out with bread (think it was sun dried tomato and rosemary but aren't sure) and some oil with sun dried tomatoes to dip. The bread was warm and amazing tasting. We ordered the calimari to start. Then shared the chicken Marsala and special of Alfredo. Could not decide which was better because they were both amazing tasting. We ended with the canola that you build yourself. The atmosphere was really good. Noise level was fine as there wasn't many people there. Can't comment on the noise level with full capacity. We will go back.
We had the brunch for $30/person and it was very good. Considering some places start at $20 for just breakfast, this was a good value for what you got. One of us had the steak, and it was on the tough side, but besides that everything was very tasty. The service was great and we felt like valued guests. It was a quiet atmosphere which was nice, as you sometimes need to get away from the casino floor noises etc. Definitely recommend.
Food was excellent as was the service. Server was curteous and friendly. Disappointed that no speakers are provided to hear play by play of races .. Unable to know about change in drivers, etc.
A group of 18 met for dinner and to watch the horses race. I got very positive feedback on the food and service. Caffe Italiano offers an interesting menu at extremely good prices. Everything we ordered was top quality, with generous portions. The wait staff were very attentive and eager to please. The manager checked in on us to make sure we were happy. We're already looking forward to next time!
Entrees were great but the main meal was not worth the money that we paid for it. Mushroom ravioli you got seven pieces of ravioli for $30 was not expecting such little portions. I had Lobster ravioli and I also got only seven pieces it was okay but again not what I was expecting for the price I paid was not impressed we did tip as we always do our server was amazing.

The two meals we ordered did not live up to our expectations. The chicken on the Chicken Marsala was breaded, I never experienced chicken Marsala breaded; my fault for probably not reading the menu thoroughly. The lobster and shrimp dish in sage brown butter sauce was not appealing, it was not a brown butter sauce we were expecting and the sauce appeared to be broken, and salty.
Overall, a good restaurant for a special occasion. It is fun to watch the races from the comfort of the restaurant. Our server, Tania (?), was pleasant and attentive. Our table of 10 was served in a timely manner. We were offered tasty bread with an olive oil dip (excellent). I started with the calamari (excellent) and spouse had the caesar salad (excellent). I also sampled the ricotta/honey appetizer (just okay). Main dishes were the lasagna (very good) and the catch of the day, a seafood risotto (very good). Portions of the entrées were a bit small for the price. We were verbally offered a choice of desserts, and ordered a piece of cheesecake assuming it to be at the $10 mark. Should have asked; it was $18! But it was excellent: creamy, tasty and a great mix of flavours and textures: berry coulis, pistachios, flowers, herbs. The presentation of all the dishes was a feast for the eyes. The tables are wobbly, almost to the point of falling over.
We really enjoyed our dinner last night. Once it got busy, however it was very difficult to have a conversation due to the acoustics in the room. Overall, it was better than before:)
I was told this was an excellent place to dine with a moderate dress code. My wife and I were quite overdressed. I assume there is no dress code based on seeing others dining in tank tops and shorts. The steak was good, but there were no sides with the steak except 3 tiny potato wedges and small handful of greens. i assumed the garlic fries were part of my meal but that was not the case. My wife ordered penne pasta and got corkscrew instead, she found the sauce bland and too loose.
I love this restaurant and try to go regularly. I'm literally obsessed with the lasagne. Last night someone missed the mark though - there was not enough sauce in the lasagne.i hope it was just a fluke. The Cesar salad was delicious. Wine was great.
