The Oar is a delightful restaurant with great ambience, wonderful fare & exceptional service! Ev was truly wonderful as our server. Polite, personable & professional.
Our dinner was superb. Wife/I had the soup, calamari, pork belly/scallops & rainbow trout. Delicious! We had the Earl Grey Creme Brulee for dessert which just capped off great meal!
Highly recommend The Oar if you’re in town! Excellent in every manner. Thank you Ev! 💯

We ended our day in Muskoka with a lovely dinner at this restaurant, which we discovered by chance—and such a wonderful surprise.
In addition to offering a variety of gluten-free and vegetarian options, every dish we tried was delicious. The curried tempeh was outstanding, and the vegetarian poutine was among the best I’ve had. Highly recommended!

I can't say anything about the food or the atmosphere. Just came back from the restaurant, which was closed. No notice on their website. Just unbelievable

We arrived at 2pm on a Friday afternoon. Waited a long time to be served. The $20 burger did not look appetizing, it had a good flavoured patty but lacked a great deal to make it worth the price, especially with no sides. The food was not worth the money. This is the first restaurant I’ve ever been to that does not allow food substitutions or eliminations. As a customer who has severe food allergies, I urge you do not go to this restaurant! This should not be allowed. We will not go again to this restaurant, nor will we recommend it,

Outrageously overpriced!
We don't mind waiting 1h (yes, 1 hour) for our food, if the quality justifies it. But in this case, once we finally got our food, it was a slap in the face. The "steak" was a 2.5 inch excuse of a medallion, dry and completely tasteless; the portion size was smaller than the kids' menu items. The stew that was supposed to "blow mind", reminded me of canned food rations, both in taste and presentation, sided with one (yes, 1) brussel sprout, 2 tiny pieces of plantain, 1 even tinier piece of eggplant, and 3 undercooked baby potatoes.
The kids' chicken fingers (store bought, frozen, of course) with some fries, and a generic dip was $14!
The soup? Nothing to write home about, so don't even bother.
This dining experience left a very bad taste in my mouth, both literally and figuratively. The waitress looked genuinely ashamed for charging us $150 for what she served us. A terrible end to a otherwise perfect day in beautiful Muskoka.

Stopped in Tuesday for quick lunch before the boat cruise was pleasantly surprised at vegetarian options for my wife & we both had a great lunch here. Lunch special soup & sandwich very tasty, filling. Pasta salad was nice also. Pretty fair sized place but of course now were sort of off season so wasn't too busy. Well worth the stop here. Kristin was very pleasant server as well. See you again when were in this area

Amazing restaurant. Food and service were outstanding. This is a hidden gem in Gravenhurst. Highly recommend if you're in the area.
Food was average. Price was as expected. The decor was nice. Kind of slow service. Would I go back? Probably try other places.
