You know what they say: friends who balzac together stay together. Every drink is handcrafted to perfection, the baristas are like fairy angels who put all of their blood sweat and tears into making your latte. While standing in line you cannot help but stare at all the delicious pastries as they call your name. What a beautiful chocolate croissant, I still think about it. Sometimes it’s hard to find seating but after drinking that coffee I think I could stand for at least 32 hours.

The staff at Balzac’s Café in Guelph are incredibly kind, polite, and genuinely helpful. Balzac’s has always been one of my favorite coffee spots, but this location has a particularly warm and cozy atmosphere despite being small. The coffee is excellent, as always, and the kindness and friendly attitude of the staff add a special charm to the place. If you’re in Guelph, don’t bother looking for another café — this is the perfect spot for a great coffee and a pleasant experience. Highly recommend!

Disappointing Experience at Balzac’s Guelph
I was really looking forward to spending some time at Balzac’s in Guelph with a friend, but we were kicked out before we even had the chance to order. I still had less than half of a Tim’s coffee left, and even though we were about to buy food and drinks from Balzac’s, the staff told us we couldn’t stay because of it. Keep in mind we are students and we were opening our laptops and setting up and warming up before we ordered anything.
It felt unwelcoming and unnecessary and money hungry especially considering we were planning to support the business. Instead, we went next door to The Found Café, where the staff were friendly and accommodating. The food and service there were far better, and they actually seemed to value new customers.
Balzac’s ended up losing two paying customers that day. I definitely won’t be coming back after that experience, and I’d recommend The Found Café instead for anyone looking for a warm, customer-friendly spot in Guelph.

Honestly? It’s giving “hot but emotionally unavailable.” Great parking, cute space, but the espresso? Charred like my last situationship. The vanilla latte was burnt and bitter, not in the fun way. Verdict: Come for the convenience, stay if your standards are low.
The best coffee and chocolate crossant I've ever had in my whole damn life. Came Wednesday October 8 around 1:15pm. The staff are super sweet and let us take our time to order. The cafe is so cute and they take your student meal card if your a uofg student. Highly recommend! We will be coming back. The apple latte was the best thing i've ever drank, literally didn't even last me five whole minutes! ❤️

I love coming here to study; drinks are well priced and have a great variety for those who are picky. I wish they offered more filling food, as they only have bakery goods. Finding seating also competitive. Overall, would recommend!
