When I asked Hema if she could design some cookies for a 50th University of Guelph reunion brunch that we were hosting, she didn't hesitate. Immediately, she reached out with design ideas and her pricing was more than competitive with other bakers we reached out to. While decorated (edible paper) cookies do not always taste great, these were delicious...just a hint of lemon and perfect with a cup of coffee or tea. Our guests were so chuffed to see them upon their arrival. In addition to the cookies we ordered, Hema also added in some delicious chocolate macarons. We would 100% use her services, again. It’s currently prime wedding season so I was having a hard time finding a business I knew and trusted to bake me an intricate kinder-themed cake, even with over one month’s notice.
I came across Hema’s Bakery by searching local cake makers on Google and while she was able to promise a cake for the date that I needed it, it’s always risky ordering from someone or some place that you’ve never ordered from before. I’ve learned the hard way that sometimes even the prettiest cakes from popular bakers can taste awful so I was wary; and rightfully so, I believe. Additionally, having a very specific vision for a cake, I was nervous about the end result. Would it look okay? Would the size of the cake justify the amount of money spent? Would guests enjoy it or would I see nearly-whole slices of cake piled up in the trash bin at the end of the night?
However, I really have no regrets after picking up the cake and serving it to guests at my boyfriend’s birthday. We were all in awe of how beautiful it was; it was almost too beautiful to eat. But the taste was PERFECT and so we were all happy to dig in! Compliments from all of us, Hema!
Hema’s customer service was also on point. She responded promptly to my initial inquiries about the order and was extremely accommodating with the details and flavours I was looking to incorporate with the cake. I described some flavour profiles that I wanted the cake to have but for the most part, I was just trusting Hema to do her thing and she absolutely delivered ?? The cake was rich, moist, and not overly sweet, as many cakes can be, despite being covered in chocolate and layers of chocolate mousse filling. It’s not enough to give Hema 5 stars - if I could, I’d give her more. The cake was just perfect
I am so, so happy with the choice I made to trust Hema with making this cake for my boyfriend and I would absolutely order from her again.
