Visited this location after the pandemic, a big difference compared to 3 years ago. the restaurant is clean, all staff wears masks and they even have disposable gloves provided for the buffet customers. The food was fresh and tasty, and the service was attentive, strongly recommend people to try this location.

Gathered here with 30 people on a Saturday afternoon, Arrangements were easy and service was fantastic, Great layout and selection of food. Clean and virus protection in play. Thanks to our three servers Marc, Sarah and Winnie.

My wife and I tried the smorg a while back.. Food was plentiful and reasonably tasty with lots of variety. My biggest complaint is that the cost is very high.. Almost as much as you would pay in a really good restaurant..

Stopped in for family day lunch, and it was a pleasant experience. Food was fresh, wait staff was attentive. My only negative thing was someone wandering around the food area with a broom and dustpan while customers were serving themselves.

Because it was Monday and not busy the food sat around for a while and when something was almost gone they did not replenish the dish. Also the glassware and cutlery were not clean. In fact the whole place did not seem very clean to me. Definitely not worth the price.

My wife and I have enjoyed this restaurant since the first day it opened its doors to the public. The quality of the food has always been to our satisfaction. In fact, there has never been a day when we did not leave with a smile on our faces. To managers and employees, I would like to say "Thank you for your commitment to excellence in quality and service." To people visiting Guelph, I would like to say: "A trip to our city is not complete until you visit this very special restaurant. Try it. I am sure you will love it."

It’s been a few years since I dined at a Mandarin, so I don’t know if the decrease in food quality, variety and lower service standards are chain-wide or only at the Guelph location. The first thing we noticed was there was no ‘welcome to Mandarine’ - the chain used to be famous for their obsession with every staff member greeting their guests. The real disappointment started when we were seated at a table that had set too many places at the table and squeezed us into too small of a table. Having reserved a table over a week in advance, we felt they could at least accommodated our booking a properly sized table. When I asked if there was a bigger table, the waiter said they were “very busy” but that he would check. He never did follow up. Next we waited for over 15 minutes and eventually had to call over the waiter to take our drink order. I let the waiter know at that point he was ‘striking out’ in terms of service. After the water was delivered to our table, we honestly thought they used dirty glasses, they were so heavily spotted and cloudy. The cutlery too looked dirty. We were about to complain about being served from unwashed glasses and cutlery, however we noticed every table had the same badly stained glassware. Obviously the restaurant has a hard water or dishwasher problem - unresolved and very unsightly. Maybe a public health inspector should confirm if dishes are being properly cleaned and sanitized - we all felt unsure. It was tough to eat our meal because how tight they had crammed us into our seats. The other major disappointment was the variety and quality of food. The buffet was not what we used to enjoy in the past.Even with a relevantly high per person price, the variety was limited. Also no more gluten free foods, and only 1 sugar free desert choice. The need for ‘Gluten free’ and ‘Sugar Free’ options was a major reason we chose Mandarin for a family birthday lunch. Again, I’m not sure if all Mandarin locations have cut back on food quality and menu variety, or if it is just Guelph location. Overall a disappointing dining experience. It’s a shame that Mandarin has allowed standards to fall. We will likely choose one of the many ‘other’ quality restaurant options in Guelph before we return to Mandarin. A shame.

I was absolutely blown away by the service by Michael and his crew. Food was great and the time spent with my friends... even better! Simply the best place you could be at 8:47pm on a overcast Sunday night. I will be back as often as my student loan can afford it.

We went on Friday evening. They weren't busy, probably half full. The buffet was hot and well stocked. Some new selections were available, such as spicy cucumber salad and seafood in pastry. Service was very good, as usual. The big problem was the manager, Tony. Half way through the dinner he came onto the floor and began yelling at one of the servers. Really. Not a good idea in front of your patrons. Then Tony started to leave but returned to the room to continue to yell. Extremely unprofessional. Mandarin needs to address his lack of training before he ruins their reputation. We won't be returning anytime soon,as this ruined our experience. Please let us know when Tony has left this location, so we can return.

From the moment you are seated, you are fussed over by the staff. The buffet is actually 4 buffets put together. Salad bar is fresh with more options than you can fit on a plate, hot buffets offer seasonal specials and the serving stations are never left empty for more than a few minutes. The dessert buffet is worth the trip. Warm wash clothes make you feel less like a grazer and more like a human at the end of your meal. It may cost more than your average Chinese buffet, but the number of staff they have looking after you, the variety and freshness of the foods and the overwhelming number of options you have make it worth every penny.

The chicken balls where very tough, most food trays were empty, waited for plates It seemed not enough help & must be new staff in kitchen. No roast beef at that station crust on gravy mmmm how tastsy that might of been NOT! I will stay going to kitchener food is far better along with service. A restaraunt is only as good as its manager but the cook & servers make the restaraunt
