Hayden served me and my friends amazingly with super service! The food was also amazing, we got the lemon squares. This place is my new favourite bakery!

The apple pie is divine- bought one two days in a row! They don’t load their pies with sugar and the crust to filling ratio is just right! 10/10 recommend!

The only bread we eat in our Home is the MUST TRY Sourdough Garlic Cheddar Loaf. If your making a Sandwich, Avocado Toast or a Hearty Soup this winter - You Gotta Try this Loaf! It is a Work of Art.

They make it on Wednesdays and Saturdays; because good things....should be limited :)
Their focus is quality not quantity!

Supurb service and quality. The sourdough was out of this world. Very impressed with the new barista who really knows her way around an espresso station. The care put into this local gem really shows.

I’ve always loved their food and feel bad giving such a low rating, but unfortunately, their hygiene standards have really declined. On my last visit (Sunday, October 5), I saw staff handling baked goods with bare hands instead of using gloves or tongs. When I mentioned it, they didn’t apologize — they just said some people are allergic to gloves. I understand that, but there are proper alternatives like using tongs. It looked like basic hygiene rules weren’t being followed when the manager wasn’t around. Sadly, I won’t be back — I really wish I could unsee that.

Everything from this bakery is incredible! The bread and pastries are super fresh. Everyone was super impressed by this cake I got for my daughter’s birthday and commented on how delicious it was.

She’s bougie, busy, and impossible to park near, but worth it if you’ve got the patience of a saint and the wallet of a Kardashian. Espresso? Creamy and rich like a well-aged sugar daddy. The long wait is real, but so is the payoff.

With the Grain is my Saturday morning ritual. The coffee and baked goods are amazing. I stock up for the week with an oatmeal sandwich loaf (awesome for our Saturday lunch grilled cheese sandwiches), baguettes (they make for fantastic French toasts), croissant bread (which my daughter devours in her school lunches) and often something sweet as a treat - the brownies, bee sting bars and cinnamon rolls are always a hit! The staff is super friendly and I appreciate the loyalty cards for coffee and bread. The bakery itself is small but so quaint being in an old historical house. If you haven't tried With the Grain, you're missing out on a Guelph experience.

I visited this place about a year ago and absolutely loved it. I was in town this past Saturday and decided to visit again— unfortunately, I won’t be returning after this visit.

While the food is still excellent, the service was extremely disappointing this time. One major concern: the same dirty tongs, visibly coated with a thick build-up from various food items, were reused for everything I ordered. It was hard to miss, and frankly, it was unappetizing.

When I asked simple questions, the staff either didn’t know how to respond or gave dismissive answers. I also asked for a proper box for my donut, since I had a long drive ahead to prevent the icing from sticking and peeling off, a basic request, but instead was told it’s supposed to come in a bag and got denied.

I ordered a latte as well, which took nearly five minutes to arrive, and when it finally did, it was poorly made. The milk was steamed incorrectly, and it was clear the staff could use more training on how to properly prepare drinks.
It’s disappointing to see such a drop in service quality.

Won’t be returning.

Would've given 5 stars this time last year however in recent months there's been a significant drop in the quality of those working the front counter. We have gone back a few times in the hope that our experience of extremely slow service, repeating ourselves multiple times, and being given two coffees unlabeled and left to guess which is Decaf, was a one off. Sadly not. Real shame as the baked goods are delicious but it is no longer worth a long wait and frustrating experience.
