Another situation where Google allows someone new to take the place of an older business. This isn't the place it used it be, so it shouldn't carry the old reviews. This is dishonest, making sales off the reputation of the former owners.

I recently celebrated my birthday at this restaurant, and it was an amazing experience. The service was exceptional, with staff going above and beyond to make my day special. They even surprised me with a lovely complimentary dessert. Highly recommend!

Vegetarian options: Additionally, they have great tasting vegetarian options.

We enjoyed dinner for two - the atmosphere was relaxing and the food was great...delicious meatloaf and my friend had a lovely pasta dish. The service was very thoughtful and warm.
Will definitely return.

Stay away. Don't waste your money.

The food was awful and nothing was as described on the menu. The bread for the bruschetta tasted freezer burnt. I ordered the pasta special which was listed as baked penne in mushroom bolognese cream. I was asked if I wanted to add chicken to it which I declined. What I got was a baked penne that was black in areas. It was penne pasta in a tomato and ground meat sauce with 4 or 5 sliced canned mushrooms in it ans no sign of cream anywhere and overall it tasted 'old'. My husband had a seafood pasta and has been feeling 'off' since after dinner. To add to it we waited over 20 minutes to get the bill after asking for it. We walked out and turned to each other and said we were never going back. I have no idea how they have a 4.4⭐️ rating on Google. If I could give it less than 1⭐️ I would.

If you went to the York Road Kitchen before the fire and come again expecting the same thing, you will be severely disappointed.

New owners have sunk any identity and character that existed before into the ground. Weird, non-matching decor, boring music, and canned food. Chocolate still remains in their name but literally nothing has chocolate on it (I didn’t stay for dessert.) The seafood “platter” was a plate of randomly chosen pieces of fish (with one single coconut shrimp) half cooked and battered blindly. The bruschetta we ordered was not even close to the picture in the menu. I got the burger which was serviceable but any pasta dish is cooked into goop and covered in reheated sauce.

If I were the old owners, I’d sue for defamation. For your sake and your stomach’s, stay far away.

We wanted to try this place the many times we have driven past and of course the great reviews which I understand were under previous ownership.
Disappointed was an understatement.
Our server, while pleasant, was clearly out of her depth and struggled to understand our orders.
While the calamari appetizer was ok the mains were terrible at best. Incinerated frozen burger, salmon (maybe salmon) served with some kind of Indian vegetable side, schnitzel which was very over fried and so thin it curled up on the edges served with a very wilted salad.
This was not a cheap meal.
I think that the word has got out as there were only 3 tables covered at 7pm on a Saturday night.
We love to try new restaurants, (new to us) and are willing to pay these kind of prices for quality, BUT, everything was substandard and they are completely out of their depth.

Rarely do I review a restaurant where I was embarrassed after dining there. The rustic exterior and simple menu suggests a hidden gem, but what they were really hiding was the value for money. Their appetisers were okay, calamari and fries cooked well, but the mains are a different story. The lamb had a bitter aftertaste, possibly from a preservative and little flavour in the over-seasoned meat likely due to being frozen. The microwaved, Chef Boyardee sauced spaghetti... insulted Italian ancestors so far back I had to look up how to say "mi dispiace" (I'm sorry in Italian).

York Rd. Kitchen did a fantastic job at managing our 18-person party on a Saturday night. Everything came out quickly and was delicious. Everyone’s food was hot and tasty, the drinks were great and they even did a special dessert for my mom’s 65th birthday. Would definitely recommend! Thank you so much for accommodating us!!!
