A hidden gem in Hamilton. We were in the neighborhood looking for a light late lunch and came cross Aberdeen Tavern. Service was the best, we will return for a full dinner plans.

A delightful place, very cool vibe for dinner. Nice combination of an inventive menu with lovely old school architecture (wood and stone). Great service. Dont be fooled by the “Tavern” in the name - so much for than a tavern

We literally live down the street but rarely come here after being disappointed again and again.

A nice room and patio but some painful drawbacks.
The pricing is quite expensive compared to the very disappointing portion size of the majority of dishes.
The Flavour is there but it lacks in value for what you get. Most dishes we’ve ordered have tasted good but we always leave hungry. How can a restaurant skimp in a pasta dish or a side of fries. They cost next to nothing and the owner should be embarrassed to serve these portions.
Another shortfall is the dining room has a fireplace that doesn’t work or at least is never turned on and would be a game changer in the ambiance department.
Lastly, the menu is far too limited, missing some simple dishes that would add to the offering but not a large expense to the kitchen.
2.5 stars.

Guys. This is one of the best restaurants in this area for this price range. Everyone at my table tried each other's meals and every dish was spectacular.

The service was great too. They don't kick you out if the restaurant closes, and are extremely nice with you.

The atmosphere is great too. Beautiful paintings and decorations on the wall, with nice lo-fi jazz playing in the background. Everything is clean and neatly set-up.

Overall, this is one of the best meals you can have around this area for this price range. If you're looking for a simple nice time with $20-$30, this is THE place!

So I review a lot of food related places, I enjoy cooking immensely and can appreciate what good service is as I have work service for the last 25 years. This place was a refreshing change from your typical corporate restaurants. Walking in there was multiple greeters, after being sat there were multiple servers looking after our drinks and water service. I was a little perplexed by tables that seated after us receiving food before us. Food took a little while but when it came, wow. My kids loved the kids menu they ordered. Omelette was 9 out of 10, wife loved, I had steak which was 8.5 outta 10. Great small gem on Aberdeen. Try it or don't, if you don't thou your missing out

My family and I went from looking forward to a Friday dinner at Aberdeen Tavern, previously a Hamilton staple, to us no longer wanting ever to consider patronizing this restaurant. We arrived around 6:30 and even with low numbers at the restaurant we had slow service throughout. Once we finally received our mains the steaks for my wife and I, ordered medium rare, was extremely charred and well done inside. It was taken away once we were able to flag down a waiter, but then proceeded to wait about 30 minutes and the new plates still weren’t ready. At this point 8:20, I was done waiting and paid the bill. To my surprise, there was no mention of any reduction or removal of these poor meals. The staff avoided us while we were waiting for the replacement and barely made eye contact as they said sorry and we left. Goodbye Aberdeen Tavern, we’ve seen the last of you.
