Nice atmosphere and welcoming service, but with variable entrees from mediocre and skimpy to copious and tasty. Potatoe fries are an emblematic dish in any restaurant,, but the B.G. "frites" were thick, not crispy and as another reviewer noted, too close to Costco for comfort. Value? - Big drinks markup, and grandiose prices for food. Overall, perhaps more Grimm than Brotherly.

Excellent Service - place is actually located underground with a wine cellar feel and atmosphere. The appetizers were delicious especially the ceviche and the shrimp - both were “cooked” to perfection either a perfect blend of flavours. We took the Sausage Platter and we loved it. The desserts though were the stars of the meal. We got the milfoja and the osteria cathedral dessert. Both of them were some of the best ive ever had. Excellent place - excellent service. Highly Recommended

Everything here was absolutely delicious!! I highly recommend. Staff were amazing! Super kind and friendly. Atmosphere was wonderful! It’s in the “basement” of the building so the ambiance was lovely with low lights and stone/brick walls. I will 100% be returning!!

Horrible experience. Our appetizer (sausage) came out cold. We were seated in a corner beside the waiters counter despite empty tables in the middle and we were hit in the head twice by waiters trying to deliver orders. They were rude and made every attempt to get us to leave as soon as possible despite us purchasing several dishes. The food was not worth the price and the service just as bad

Ambiance! This place has ambiance! Decided to visit as a group of six, and it did not disappoint. Walk down the stairs to the cellar to be greeted by a wonderful musician who played for the whole time we were there. Beautiful lighting in a darker cellar experience, it was super cozy. The food was tremendous, and super quick. The food is a little pricey, but a lot of it is made on premises. We had the steak frites du fromage and the wild game sausage, both were unbelievable. Other than being asked to leave right at the two hour mark, ( I understand this is what restaurants have to do to keep other reservations on time). Other than that, Everything was fantastic.

I ordered the steak with a side of fries (Costco fries lol) in the first picture as medium rare, but what I received was completely rare—cold in the center and barely seared. I sent it back, hoping for a properly cooked steak, only to receive the exact same thing. No difference. Still rare, stinky, and gross.

If that wasn’t bad enough, the flavour was awful—not a single grain of salt or seasoning. The smell? Weird and off-putting. The cut itself was terrible, and at the price they’re charging, it’s honestly shocking. I wouldn’t even take the leftovers home to feed to my dogs—that’s how bad it was.

To make things worse, when I complained, I noticed the chef staring at me from the kitchen, making a very unpleasant face. 0/10 experience from the peanut gallery.

The only good thing about my experience was the service. Our waiter was incredibly kind, attentive, and very apologetic about the whole situation.

But when it comes to the food, especially the steak? Absolutely unacceptable. If you’re looking for a quality steak in Hamilton or just generally good food, do yourself a favor and go anywhere else!!!

I don't write many reviews, just due to the inconvenience, but I must share how amazing this restaurant is. Truly a gem in the midst of Hamilton....I've been here twice now, and each being a special occasion in itself was made so wonderful from the PHENOMENAL food (as a vegetarian there are the best options), with lovely drinks, an atmosphere of serenity and the quickest and most thoughtful servers ever! If I return to Hamilton it's for this place.

The stakes are high for a restaurant on a first date … but not nearly as high as they are for a couple 7 years married with their six year old at Grandma’s and a night to themselves. These dates are sacred, and a restaurant can tank the whole thing very easily. Fortunately for us, when we descended the stairs to The Brothers Grimm on a cold Friday, Feb 7, the Gods of matrimonial good times were in our favour. Erikka was a delight. Welcoming and knowledgeable, totally on the ball. The atmosphere cozy, quirky stopping just sort of funky … the good funky, not the bad one. The beer the food the dessert all superb. Delicious and piping hot on the aforementioned cold February night. I’ve seen other reviews that complain of the price. Sure, it’s not cheap, but nor is the artistry of all involved.

My husband and I visited for the first time this evening for our 5th wedding anniversary. We wanted to mark the occasion at a nice restaurant and were willing to pay for an excellent meal and ambiance. Unfortunately we were left disappointed on all fronts.

Although the staff were friendly, and acknowledged our special day with a dessert (on the house), the overall experience was mediocre at best.

We felt we were forgotten about several times by our server, often looking for anyone to make eye contact and acknowledge our presence. Our waiter did not seem knowledgeable about the menu and kept having to reference it. At one point we asked to see a menu to review the beer options (as our server wasn’t able to speak to what was being offered) and he completely forgot to bring the menu over leaving us waiting for an extended period of time. Additionally, he forgot to send our order into the kitchen leading to a long wait for our meal. He did offer a little snack as we waited, but by this point we were already feeling disappointed in our restaurant choice for the evening.

The silverware on our table was bent, there was a chip in both of our water glasses, the bathrooms felt cheap for the price point of the restaurant, and their venting needs improvement (I kept choking up due to the smoke coming off the kitchen).

To top it off the food was sub par at best. My steak frites were overcooked, chewy, and extremely salty. My husband said his meal lacked flavour.

We were left with almost $170 bill for a meal and experience worth not even half of that. For the price point at this restaurant you expect quality from service, to food, to atmosphere, to glassware, etc. Our experience at Brother’s Grimm failed to tick any box. Although we would like to support local, Hamilton has yet again left us disappointed…

My daughter's birthday dinner at Brothers Grim was an absolute triumph! The restaurant's unique atmosphere created a truly magical setting for our celebration.
The staff, particularly our server Erica, were incredibly attentive and made us feel so welcome. The owner's warm hospitality added a personal touch that truly elevated the experience.
From the delicious food to the impeccable service, everything about our evening at Brothers Grim was top-notch. I highly recommend this restaurant for any special occasion or simply a delightful night out. Thank you to the entire Brothers Grim team for making my daughter's birthday so memorable!
