We got their chocolate cake with caramel buttercream. The service was great, the person who sold us our cake was super kind and patient with us, and there was basically no wait. They were really talking up this cake which you expect from the people selling it, but it was justified. It wasn't too sweet in my opinion which is often the case with other cakes I've bought, the cake and buttercream were soft and the texture was amazing, it had a good balance of texture, and this cake was really dressed up. Like it had some skor in there, it was 4 tiers, they did this ganache and a bit of a drip going on, this really even line of crumbs (I think) on the bottoms edge. Like there was a great deal of skill that went into this cake.Something else I really appreciate is that these people really care about you getting the right experience because they told us to leave it at room temperature for 5 hours because it's enjoyed best that way, and it's even repeated on this label on the box. They even told us that it freezes well which I fully trust because they were right about everything else.
Cute little shop; with delicious snacks. You can get pies; brownies and cookies. They currently have cream egg brownies; they are yummy. However, very sweet! Definitely recommend you share with a friend lol!
The baked goods are very hit or miss. The cream egg brownie is great, and so are their scones. However, I tried the Nutella streudel and was not impressed at all - the Nutella inside was hard and chalky. It’s also more on the pricey side for a bakery.
I finally got to visit Cake & Loaf bakery after following them on Instagram and getting the recipe book! I was not disappointed! The lady who served us was so friendly and lovely! The last minute cakes were all finished because of Fathers Day but I managed to pick up a strawberry rhubarb scone and lemon blueberry loaf. They are both SO YUMMY! Also they gave me a surprise free creme egg brownie bar! She sneaked it into my package after we had a fun discussion about their home grown rhubarb and how much I love the bakery. What a sweet gesture! And honestly it too was delicious! I’ll be coming back for the full cake when I’m back in town.
Visited this Saturday morning. Walked in to be greeted by the two loveliest smiling people, offering me a cookie sample. They gave me amazing recommendations and everything was so delicious! I'm so pleased this place was recommended to me. Will definitely be back ❤️
I have only shopped your bakery a few times, but only hear great reviews. You use the best quality ingredients, your bake goods and other items are exceptional and you pay your employees a fair wage. After reading the article in the Spec and speaking to some people, I would like to make the following suggestions: increase your operating hours. Firstly, you have a captive customer base early in the morning when parents are dropping off their children at school or going to work to purchase a coffee (the most profitable commodity in history), possibly a pastry and they have the opportunity to browse other items. There's an old saying "you can't sell it if you don't have it"). Your fixed costs will only change minimally if you are open a normal working day (8am to 6pm). Business' operate for the convenience of the customer not for your convenience, go all in like the "Sharks" dictate or make due and not complain. Do you want to be be in business or have a hobby?
Unique looking baked walnut butter tart> tart shell look like a puff pastry. Vanilla bean latte> best latte I have ever had. Lots of pastry treats to choose from. Highly recommended and must visit when you're in Hamilton. Friendly staff.
My wife found this place a few years ago & ever since they have been a part of our holidays. We have ordered birthday cakes, cookies, tarts & pies from here & if home made, from scratch is what you are after without the work this is the place! Great stuff always
Orange cream pie ??Varied selection of desserts/pastries, merchandise. They seasonally introduce new treats.
First timer & was very please, not only did it look wonderful but it tasted fantastic-I ordered the Chocolate/Vanilla Marble "Birch Bark" look cake and it was very well done. We will be repeat customers for sure!!

Just made it to the bakery in time to pick up some delightful holiday cookies! Every single flavour was amazing! (Thanks for letting me squeak in after you were closed!)
Love it here. Everything is delicious. Its not cheap, and for good reason. The food tastes amazing, handmade and the staff is happy. I don't mind paying more, it's the quality you're getting. If you dont care if your food stale, tasteless and what not, go to fortinos and buy their pre-frozen desserts, and pay less. That's your choice.I'll go out of my way to come here over and over.
The Cake & Loaf bakery is a small unassuming little bakery in Hamilton serving up some very creative and delightful baked goods. In our quest to find the best butter tarts in Ontario, and explore some of the best bakeries, we have been trying to get to Cake & Loaf for some time.We finally visited on Halloween weekend and the whole place was alive with the spirit of the season. They had spooky cakes covered in eye balls, candy corn brownies, rock road bars made to look like dirt and cemeteries, and many other delightful items.I purchased a lot of different items so that I could get a great sample of what they offer here, in case I didn't make it back for a while. The treats all look so beautiful, fun, and fanciful. The taste of the baked good was equally amazing. The service was super friendly. When I explained how excited I was to finally make it in store, the lady was very excited for me to try different items.I saw them on the CTV's The Social with Jess Allen, at easter - doing a demo on easter baked goods. The buttertarts were the reason I came for @Rogue_Trippers #buttertartquest, but the other items we purchased were just as exciting.I cannot wait to come back and try other items. They offer a few pantry items, merchandise, and of course - their own cook book. You can order custom items as well as purchase the items from the shelf.

I recently ordered a tea and carrot muffin, and the service was very homegrown. I had a very friendly waitstaff deliver me a brewed tea with a carrot muffin in a neatly wrapped package. Made my day. Thank you cake and loaf
