Charred has incredibly tender and flavourful Portuguese-style chicken. I’m quite partial to their large salads as a side, but their potatoes are great, too. The service is always fast and the servers are very helpful and friendly. For those who like hot spice, I recommend the “very spicy” Piri Piri sauce. Charred is my go-to spot for chicken in Hamilton.

So happy they reopened after the fire. Been coming here over 5 years and was sad when they place got charred. The food taste fresh as before. Same menu, same friendly staff. Come back and visit this place!

Their poutine is absolutely incredible - my favourite I’ve ever had. Can’t describe how much I love the spicy cheese curds. The brisket is great and the gravy tastes beautifully despite being vegetarian/vegan. The house salad is also fantastic - fresh vegetables, flavourful dressing and a great portion as well.
I used to enjoy their chicken sandwich but now find it underwhelming. I’ve only been once since they re-opened, and I’m hoping the portion was just a fluke but there was barely any chicken on my sandwich. I tasted mostly bread, or the onions and peppers.
The atmosphere is awesome - very wholesome, historic, relaxing, open-concept, and aesthetic. I did find the waitress to act a little strange: reciting my tip amount aloud but other than that, a great experience and almost exactly how I remembered Charred.

Chicken was dry and bland. Server also completely ignored us and didn't even bring us water when we requested it twice. Also the fries in the poutine were floppy and flimsy, and the cheese curds were cold. Also the seating area felt very crowded and smushed. Very disappointing experience.
