This was the single worst takeout order I've ever had. The order was completely incorrect, the food was overcooked ,disgusting absolutely unedible. It was packaged so carelessly I can't believe it left the restaurant to be delivered to a customer. If I could have given a zero I would have. Do not waste you money on this place.

I ordered over $80.00 worth of take out and add a tip as well. I felt ill shortly thereafter eating the food, and it passed, the next day I got ill again when I ate leftovers. I threw out the rest of the food. Will never order there again.I used to order there all the time, the food was great and half the price for a dinner for four. Don’t know what happened it is like commies took over. Twice the cost, a quarter of the goodness. Too bad, used to love the place.

Forbidden city has now become my go to Chinese food restaurant. I moved across the street from this place in 2017 and never ate or ordered from Forbidden city because I already have another place I ordered from. Then one day in maybe 2018 or even 2019 I was hungry and decided to walk across the street and give this place a try. Well since that 1st time I haven't eaten or ordered from any other Chinese food place. For me it was the chicken fried rice. I had never tasted anything like it in my life. It had bean sprouts in it as well as different vegetables and nice bug chunks of white tender chicken. The spices used and the rest of the ingredients and tge way they are put together made me fall in love right away. I truly say this is the best Chinese rice I have ever eaten. For me an order of chicken fried rice and an egg roll as well as an spring roll is a complete meal. Sometimes I throw in an order of chicken ball sweet and sour and I end up completely full because I couldn't stop until it was all gone. They have many other of the go to Chinese food items that are all great tasting as well. I recommend if you have never tried Forbidden city Chinese food before to do yourself a huge solid and order or go and eat inside and you will be glad you did. This is a 5 star place for me abd the owners are one of a kind. Especially the lady of the business who always has a bug smile and is as kind and nice as they come. Out of a 1 to 10 this place is an 11 for me

Very Disappointed, rice was overcooked so it mushy, spring roll was not cooked the inside was grossly undercooked, and the chicken balls were not crispy.I remember years ago forbidden city was the place to go, I also remember the awards for 2 years in row for being the best restaurant in Hamilton,Not anymore I guess lol ?

They use msg:The noodle for low mein is a soba noodle which was not expected. The chicken balls are as soft as donuts.If you're looking for the worst chicken balls come here.Also - very expensive - 13 dollars per chicken ball order. Which is outrageous for how bad they are.Don't order chicken balls, unless you want them to taste like soft timbits

Worst food in the downtown core. I paid $60.00 for take for two people, the price didn’t bother me. First off the tip option when you order online was taken automatically and you have delete this manually, tips are for good service and not automatic! The food was bad! Chicken balls that tasted like flour with a very small amount of chicken, fried rice that was not real fried rice lol and next to no sauce for my chicken balls! Egg rolls with next to nothing in them…and the inside of the restaurant was dingy and dirty! And of course a tip option in the debit machine for a pick up order.. tipping is for good service! Not an automatic thing! Your food was awful! Never again, and I live just up the street!
